spilie wrote:clashcity you clearly enjoyed the meeting and believe it to be the best they could get, also you quite openly say it keeps the CWU in the workplace and that is the main thing for you, well bollocks to you and the CWU i now see that was the agenda all along, they were in danger of losing the cushy numbers they have from local level to national and now want to be the gestapo for RM , well i will be losing money and doing extra work for nothing, so if thats thier best maybe they should have piss*d off, as for calling people on here tossers the old saying "pot calling the kettle black"
The question was "how will they sell the deal" and that I answered.Whether I agree or not is a different matter.
I too will be worse off financially but if collectively we are better off then I won't mind that.(Isn't that what a union is about?) That will be for the membership to decide.Don't be surprised if they don't all agree with you.
Did I enjoy the meeting? No.Three hours listening to the Treasurers report, the political officers report etc and a long and fruitless discusson about the death grant followed by points of order is not my idea of a fun Sunday but maybe the people who elected me deserve a report.I think so.
And people who use the anonymity of a chatroom to accuse the leaders of the CWU of corruption (as I read on here yesterday) are IMHO "tossers". If you want to defend the abuse of free speech feel free, but I won't be won over by your arguments.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

i dont need anonimity i will be telling my rep and area rep where to shove it and why, and i will tell you the same face to face if you like, i am sick of the cheap shots about hiding in chatrooms, this is a forum and is used as such if you dont like it well you know the answer to that, as for collectively gaining thats a lie, if there is no money as has already been stated by both sides how can there be any gains, and the total and utter betrayal of p/t staff is disgusting and it just shows the contempt the CWU have that they and you think a yes vote is achievable, and if you think for one minute this is why unions were formed then you are wrong just like the labour party and new labour there is no comparison either in integrity or ideology, so please spare me the Best They Could Get speech

Whilst on the one hand the CWU are advocating a 25% part time work force and for some areas it is much greater than that already and set to rise despite what the CWU say, by advocating buy down of hours thus creating even more part time staff by this agreement they are actively discriminating against part timers by making payments pro rata.

A part time member of staff will prepare a delivery including D2D and then deliver it - the only difference would be the IPS element - now tell me that is right and proper.

It isn't! It is wrong and no right minded person winner or loser should advocate these changes by voting YES - drop the pro rata and the deal doesn't become attractive but it is more bearable. This does absolutely nothing to unify the membership because it creates yet one more barrier to work place harmony and solidarity.

we all started off as part timers at one point, yes we are all being shat on but part timers are getting a worse deal than us full timers
