El carto, in an office like mine where there is about a 50/50 divide in ft/pt staff it has meant that every walk that has become free in the last decade has gone part time. So when we are turfed off our walks (mine is going 20 hrs as its close to the office) there are no walks to sign for so you have newbies with regular walks and regular days off and many 10 - 15 year posties covering with no day off pattern. Its not pt fault. The way forward agreement said people could opt out of a signing and keep their walks so people on cover will never get off it. All i can say is your time will come and youll be in the majority one day. I really think Royalmail have pulled a blinder. Divide and conquer.

The problem lies in the attitude - not the contract itself.
It does if by the time you come in everyone's just about gone and when you get back they have left.
Part timers are usually away before me. Then again almost everyones usually away before me.

This FT/PT divide should not exist - for the most part in deliveries it should make no difference whatsoever whether you are full or part time. No delivery should be under 3.5 hours, under the way forward agreement there was a provision for people to be recruited to fill a post BUT ONLY AFTER NORMAL PROCEDURES had been followed, consequently it needed to be advertised internally first.

If the duty in question is a delivery and 3.5 hours and you are currently on a full time contract and doing IPS and Prepping then the spare duty becomes part time whether it be cover or dogsbody and the duty you choose becomes full time.

The hours are what matters and you will not be increasing hours. It strikes me that the ruling on these duties has been "managed" in such a way as to make out that a particular duty is part/full time and that is ONLY by local negotiation (yes I know, stop laughing).

The truth of the matter is the 2007 agreement was like a colander and was forced through, despite the cries from above that we voted for it.
