Now here is a man with a sense of proportion - it is a difficult job, and oddly enough the day the "cage" is "late" strangely coincides with the day there are the most SDs but the lightest day for ordinary mail - of course there is also the problem of reception when they are late. When you work in there you tend to be methodical and security conscious and not give a toss about the flyers.

How different offices are,our RLE is a piece of piss, even in the mornings,we start at 6,tracked ready by 6-15,reg ready by 6-30,job done, bit of gas bits and loads of fag breaks.
But average reg is only 50ish for 4 drives,so that my mean something.

Also, any reps in attendance at your place Jenny?

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

I ve helped in the locker whilst on light duties and tues for some reason is mental
Of course it does not help that the same day is normally easier on the floor.
Personally i think it gets very pressured in the cage on a tue's so i dont hassle anyone in there.

Its not a job i would choose.
Rows of houses all bearing down on me........I can feel their blue hands touching me.......All these things in all positions.........All these things will one day take control..........

Same here up to and above 300 a day, the tracked though are the problem - I don't know about your place but we had 100 tracked by 0700, sorted and PDAs assigned, when lo and behold another 25 arrive out of the blue at 0715 - we have 7 spare PDAs to cover 14 Park and Loop duties - THAT is a problem. I've lost count of the number of run ins I've had with people who seem to think they are a special case and need their stuff NOW because of this or that. I start at 5 and usually have it ready by 8 BUT only because there are two of us and the other bits and bobs like setting out the scanners, changing the video tape, getting the daily tracked advice sheet, wheeling the stuff up to the locker, unloading the yorks etc . Sorting the 9 oclockers and getting people out and back with the excess tracked and then getting them back in time for the PDAs to be used again - oh yes it's an easy job right enough - I may go on til I'm 90.

Well the locker is supposed to be a secure area - so lets say something goes missing, who would be responsible? Believe me when I say not everyone can do it. Tell me when was the last time you did it?
Locker secure? Well I never

I wouldnt give any hassle to the PHG in my office. Ive covered it on light duties before and I dont envy anyone who has to do it full time, really horrible job.

Ours is usually pretty good anyway. We dont usually get out till gone 9 and hes always ready when we are.

Strange how this varies so much from office to office.

So the area where the SD's are kept is supposed to be secure then? Oh that will explain why ours are left unattended in an alt in the middle of our office where anyone could nick them.
