Hail spartacus you speak truth!Spartacus wrote:We have now reached the point where every goon with a grievance, every bitter bigot, merely has to place the prefix, 'I know this is not politically correct, but...' in front of the usual string of insults in order to be not just safe from criticism, but actually a card, a lad, even a hero. Conversely, to talk about poverty and inequality, to draw attention to the reality that discrimination and injustice are still facts of life, is to commit the sin of political correctness. Anti-PC has become the latest cover for creeps. It is a godsend for every curmudgeon and crank, from fascists to the merely smug. Finian O'Toole.
we shouldn't forget that political correctness was made up in the late 70's by the same people who brought you "the unions are too powerful" and "there is no alternative to the market" the left are all "dinosaurs" etc ie thatcher reagan murdoch etc.
To them it was a way of mobilisng people around rightwing ideas and dividng and confusing the workers movement. its jsuta a way of saying lets go back to the days when we can have a bit of sexist banter or use racist language or make fun of gay people.
Who have we got more in common with? the other workers in our offices from Africa and Eastern Europe or Crozier and Leighton? Should we argue to forget the strike and try to get them the sack instead, british jobs for british people? we'd really be screwed then, the injustice and racism of it aside..
its our Unite and Fight, or its the bosses Divide and Rule. there's no other path. the BNP is a wheel bolted on the rightside of the mainstream parties to divide and rule the working class when they don't have the authority to do it themselves anymore, trying to make us fight each other for the crumbs instead of uniting against the bosses to fight for the things we need.
Somone said to me last week that ther is only 20% of the number of council housing that existed in 1980, because of sell-offs and none being built - not because 80% of council housing got filled up with asylum seekers.
In private finance deals to build hospitals today the new PFI hospitals have on average one third less beds. So do we have one third less because asylum seekers are lying in them? no because of the rip off corrupt deals of the government adn big business to slash one half of our services and privatise and profit off of the other half - we should understand that as posties, where half the market is being opened up to profit and Royal Mail is being destroyed bit by bit.
There is a lot of crap in royal mail management etc - why? because its holow and hypocritical, they only started carring about bullying in my DO when it meant they could kick out people they saw as troublemakers and to try to curry favour wiht certin members and divide us. They aren't realy anti-racist etc. they couldn't give a toss about defending black people or gays
