What a thing to say to someone who is new! I can understand the current suspicion of new members (of the forum), but surely this guy deserves the benefit of the doubt. He's new, he hasn't a clue, just like me two years ago.

Wolvesboy: The thing you have to understand is that it's your managers responsibility to get you to and from your walk, and to supply you with your bags. If there are no drop boxes, maybe he could send out a driver to meet you at certain points. The thing to remember is communication. Speak to your manager. Tell him that you haven't had very good training, you aren't sure of certain procedures, and how exactly are you to get your bags thoughout your walk. It's up to him to work something out. You might be surprised, maybe there are garden sheds that can be used, but haven't for a while because of car use. If you get no help, go to see your union rep, even if you haven't joined the union yet.

If you are utterly determined to use your car, the only way to go is to ring your insurance company.

Is it class 1 buisiness or something else?
Join the union see your rep and don't use your car - you will see a myriad of reasons on this site why you shouldn't, and if you respected the opinion of others you'd be well advised to take it.

If you feel bullied now wait till the time comes and you don't want to use your car, You'll find out what bullying is then alright.

Play safe and do like the rest of us use a bike or walk .
Using your car WILL add more deliveries to you round with no extra time

Thanks for the above post...something like this was what I was looking for

I'm not going to get into a slanging match with the flamers...bullies are people with little man syndrome.

I did read your post properly, but as i said my bike is woefully inadaquate, I just needed advice as a temporary measure (didn't you read my post properly?).

I obviously are not going to get help on here (apart from the couple of guys who tried...thank guys) which is a shame. I've been in the job under a month and I can already see why this company is in such a mess.

And before anyone can put an 'hilairious' avatar or a crap photoshopped picture underneath; no it's not because of people like me, it's because of people stuck in their ways and being unable to see individual circumstances.

Shame.

Fair enough my friend we can see your very new simply by posting this question :Very Happy

You take one hell of a risk by using your car and if it goes wrong you will wish you never had.
For me it cost me dear as my own car was broken down so i had to borrow my girlfriends and that was the day it got broken into and smashed to buggery. I was lucky to keep my job with a warning and my girlfriend :d'oh! it cost me a months wages just to fix her car whilst mine was still in need of a repair i could no longer afford. NEVER NEVER again. :d'oh! :d'oh!

Please dont learn the hard way like me. lisen to the advice given here.

Best of luck mate, :Very Happy

Ps. you must be knackered with 2 jobs, this one nearly kills me
Rows of houses all bearing down on me........I can feel their blue hands touching me.......All these things in all positions.........All these things will one day take control..........

I would love to say this sounds like a wind up POST with a hint of management however the newbies dont stand a chance they only get a job on the whim they will do exactly as they are told.
ie
They get trained by like minded new staff maybe in the job 10minutes later who actually train the blokes how to work from there car.
Will you use there own car at there expense.
Come in early for nothing.
Go over using there own time not claim docket.
Hve even known some to door to door and not claim.

All I can say to Wolvesboy is what numerous amounts of people have said Im far from being militent or anti royal mail but you have to understand part of the reason we are striking is the Bully Harrasment issues. Im all for modernisation in fact are unit has lost upto 25 jobs in the past year half. The IPS now has about 6 people sorting manually there used to be about 30-40 staff doing this. we made way for the machines we still have not got. The point being the more you people that run around maxing out on free good will the more the buisness cut the employees. ie you wolvesboy on seniotrity your contract wont be the one to have. YOU BE GONE!

So for that reason Im Out on the van and my car is parked firmly in the place where I left it when I arrived.

Cheers for the more reasoned advice towards the end of the thread.

I have continued to use my bike this week...we'll see how things pan out. My old bike gave up and I was given....an even older bike with flat tyres (not making this up).

Oh, this isn't a 'wind up' by the way, just someone who doesn't know the ropes.

Quite simple.Dont provide a bike, trolley or a lift out to 1st drop, tell him/her to take a running....just dont use your own transport. Its your fuel, tax, wear and tear etc etc,so if you feel like giving R.M a freebie, feel free.Dont bleat to your manager when you cant do a delivery because your car is knackered.

O i see so because he new i shouldnt of written that WHY WHY ??????????

Have you asked how long they have been in the job.

He might be new to this forum but not to the job but i may be wrong so correct me.

The amount of posts put up on this site over the use of cars is ridiculous and if he had taken time to read previous threads he would have seen this and may not of wasted his time on asking the question he did.

My opinion is valid as much as anyone elses and i put my response in a sensible debateable manner but for some reason you have taken offence to it NOT MY PROBLEM YOURS SO DEAL WITH IT.

Dont you think feeling are running high with us blue shirts at present and you know aswell as i do the feelings on the use of private cars on delivery.
