The union has no power
Not in your office because none of you apparently stood up for your rights.

In my office the Union does have power and occasionally if has been used when the previous DOM tried something and we all as one objected, he withdrew the contentious matter and we all returned to work.

The Union has power as long as members are willing to make sacrifices to back that power up.

fluffy actually makes a couple of decent points about royal mail shafting us but does'nt seem to think we have to fight them, everybody who comes on here has the right to their opinion but i just think its sad that some people dont want to fight for their livelyhood and are just prepared to roll over but i suppose this is what happens in a democracy.

What an appropriate user name 'Fluffy' obviously like to roll over and have his/her tummy tickled.

Im not in this for a fight im trying to express my opinion that what the union are doing is not going to change a thing THEY HAVE NO POWER..if they did all this mess should have been nipped in the bud as it was happening !!!! How can you expect all RM staff across the country to unite and fight together when you read threads on here and realise that all DO`s have different pay stuctures, hours, rules ..London posties on higher wages, scottish posties getting paid higher d2d rates etc etc

Going on strike for the odd day here and there after giving 7 days notice :d'oh! will not change a thing !!
if your first line is correct, what may i ask is the point of the rest of your post.
If there was no picket line then no you were not on strike so why post.
i dont believe that a non member is expected to take action bnut i for one appreciate and it is noted, if only by me.
as a non member you are as entitled to an opinion as anyone regarding anything, postal or otherwise.
It is however disappointing on 2 fronts that firstly your rep crossed a non existant line and secondly you trot out the old line, "is it only CWU members allowed to post their opinions" when you go fishing for allies.
Confused... You won't be, after the next episode of. SOAP

And by rolling over and not fighting against these changes do you think things will improve!

Sorry Winston Churchill, we cannot fight the Hun. We do not have the power to do it. Oh but when you are victorious, can I come and wave the flag and have a street party and be treated the same by your brave soldiers who jumped out of the trenches into a hail of bullets to fight for what they feel is right.

Firstly although I do not agree with strike breaking I can see that to be the only one in your office to not go in would take a strong nerve. Not everyone has that kind of will power to stand up on their own and i guess they would feel afraid. In our office only 5 out of 82 went in and it was them with low heads and small voices on Sat morning.

However I don’t get your broken “it will happen anyway” attitude. There are simply times when one has to stand up and be counted or lay down and be walked over.

The seven day notice and rolling single day action is done for good reason. The 7 day period gives the management time to realise that the CWU are serious and get around the table before we all start losing money. The single rolling day action provides the most disruption and thus pressure with the minimum loss of earnings.

The weekly action also keeps us refreshed in the media which adds the pressure. If we went all out with no money coming in it would not take long to starve us back to work. Also in the old striking days the dispute may have been settled in a few days but then it took a week to agree terms to returning to clear the huge backlog.

Its far from ideal but its all we have to fight these bastards with.

some people cant see past the end of their noses. The union has more power than you give them credit for hense the amount of talks the RM were forced into last week. Your union rep is a disgrace and your whole office is an embarrassment to the rest of us and im ashamed to be associated with the likes of offices like that. And lastly you can stop the labour party getting any of you subscription if you ask your rep for a form. I'm just glad we dont work in the army together cos no doubt when the enemy come at us you'd run off and leave us to die.

Considering the "huge amount of Bullying and Harassment" is one of the issues the CWU want to end, there is a hell of a lot of it that goes on here if anyone dares to speak out against the all-powerful Union.
Change is inevitable. Except from a vending machine.

It’s a highly emotional topic which effects everyone’s working future and thus feelings will always run high throughout the dispute.

Personally I am not always in agreement with the Union but I prefer their idea of a Royal mails future to the one the Management are trying to force in.

I'm not in a union now.

The bullying & harrasment on this site is by "union members" towards everyone else. If you're all so desperate for it to end, you need to take a good long look at yourselves first.

This site has always been the same. You just can't handle someone with a differing viewpoint. And please don't roll out the "we try and persuade people not to cross the picket line" phrase.

You bully people on here who don't agree with the stance of "let's go to war".

Simple as that.

And for every post you can point to that doesn't conform to the above, I can probably point to 25 that do.

for your information the union is legally obliged to give 7 days notice as it seems you are unaware of that fact. if you are not here for a fight then why post at all ? You know what the response will be. You go in on strike days with the rest of your mates but don't come on here winding-up those people who are fighting for the likes of you pal :no no :no no :no no :no no
