Convince me or not mate, once all the hell that is happeing in other offices you soon find out what you are in for, I had a meeting last night with my colleagues and union reps, and it quite clear that all this talk I been hearing about, will happen at our office soon, if I were you, I start finding out these things as quickly as possible, start reading the threads on this forum too, and get in touch with your rep, and finally mate good luck at your office, because you going to need it.

Re: Convince me it's right
Good thread, thanks for keeping it civil, I expected a backlash for it
Can't believe how bad it actually is in some offices, Like I said I'll stand out, I don't want the union to be obsolete, I could see that been the end of all that is good (well whats left of it)
Going back to the loosing 8 hours pay if you cannot complete. I often can't complete my round, I can tell by the amount of mec on a morning that it will be impossible to complete and tell my manager straight away, I get the old we don't have anyone to take it but I stand firm and just work my times, I can't see how they can force you to work any extra than you actually have to. Are you saying that we will HAVE to complete our round wether we can or not??
In fact we had a bloke start on a 25 hour contract as he was semi retired, he was soon doing 50 and then put his foot down and said he would only work 25 hours, which is all he did.

As a fairly newbie on a 25 hour contract, what are the main issues have I to lose/gain?
I am 100% out btw so its not that I need convinced just still uncertain.

For you - no chance of getting more hours and less chance for docket to make your hours up. Especially as there are rumours if RM can ge rid of the Union there will be set hours per duty and if you can't complete in time tough, you still finish but you get no docket.Acca Dacca wrote:As a fairly newbie on a 25 hour contract, what are the main issues have I to lose/gain?

PHASE 4 CONCERNS
Union de-recognition
Harsher sickness/discipline process
No local voice in changes - so even if RM bring in changes that are unworkable you still have to do them.
D2Ds not being paid for but still in delivery spec.
No payment for first 3 days of sickness
Redundancy terms reduced.
Monthly pay enforced with RM making the tranistion as painless as possible - for them.

you state agreed who with themselvesbanner18 wrote:The issues surrounding this strike are so complex. I am in a similar position as whitetrash. My office runs ok, no bullying etc.. The workload is high after all the changes, but anyone who has trouble with their work seems to get help or paid ot. Now, many people in our office are going in to work on friday, saying that they are not going to lose money because some offices in the country won't cooperate and implement the pay and mod agreement, with the main caveat that all paid hours will be worked at an agreed standard.
Now the question is this, do we believe the management argument, mainly that some offices are full of posties unwilling to work their paid hours at standard, who have caused a strike from the bottom up? Or, that some offices have been genuinely over stretched and that managers in these offices, desperate for their bonuses, have resorted to intimidating the workforce in order to achieve their budgets?
The first argument is very difficult to ascertain the truth of.
The second of these is much more worrying as it will definately get to everyone, and cause a miserable working environment.
I have to play safe with this one, the second argument is not a possiblity we can tolerate. Therefore I support the union regarding this issue..
Any more feedback?
