michael j wrote:Don't forget to mention that you want to destroy the kids christmas again this year. I work for myself and every year since I started some part of the system will strike at christmas - WELL DONE! in the season of goodwill the CWU wants to upset customers who pay their wages. I had a painter on the phone to me on saturday who has not received his recorded parcel posted 2 weeks ago. He says if his bosses upset him in any way he would not then threaten his customers and refuse to paint there house. But the CWU have the stupidity to want to attack it's own customers.
Hardly if we were attacking the customer we would be on an all out continuous strike. We are on 2 single day strikes so that mail will still move through the system though a little slower

House of fraser - Yep they have left

Keep going boys - soon you will have destroyed your own jobs
No they are being destroyed already over last 5 years 63,000 RM staff have left this is a net figure.
michael j wrote:All I have heard for months is it is not about pay, even placards stating strikes not over pay - then surprisingly out comes the pay issues,
Could it be about pay because of the leaked document that stop payment for D2Ds (you'll know them as junk leaflets) which equates to a 10% cut in pay when bosses have received £k in bonuses and Crozier £millions.
michael j wrote:and modernisation, and privatisation, and bullying, and harassment, and length of delivery, and weight of bags, in fact anything and any excuse. No matter what Royal Mail gave the CWU next week they will have a new demand.
Modernisation - no just how they are implementing it without taking into account the consequences to staff and service. (You).
Privatisation - No that's been sidelined and as its a political issue and because of Mrs Thatcher we can't strike over political issues.
B&H - So we exhaust internal procedures to address it and ask for an independent review which is refused - but its still an excuse.
Length of delivery, weight of Bags - Ah H&S concerns should be dismissed because there are coming from a Union even though we once again all we have asked is for someone independent to review work levels and processes so that both sides can have assurance neither side is being treated unfairly.
michael j wrote:YOU HAVE NO PUBLIC SUPPORT and are held in lower esteem than politicians
No my experience spoke to 2 people today about strikes - 1 was on our side anyway - 2 was not but after she asked a polite question and I answered them she now says she supports us. We don't have complete public support and never expected it.
michael j wrote:Go on post this on your site because this is the true feeling of the public
BTW in a later post you say you were in the Marines - :Applause :Applause :Applause :Applause :Applause :Applause Good on you that is a tough course and not many pass it. I served 16 years in the Forces as well, NI, FI and FRY and although the forces has a reputation of B&H because of the training I personally have never seen such levels of B&H as we have in RM. I am personally convinced that the people and leadership skills of all levels of management within RM would not look good on a Lance Jack or Killicks assessment with only 1 year in post. But that just my opinion.

I feel you are all sealing your own fate. Just had an emergency meeting with my company (£9billion turnover) & you are about to lose our business permanently.

You are dillutioned if you think the public are behind a prehistoric company with a 1970's union orientated attitude.

I think it is essential you carry out your strike action at this time of year to reinforce the disconnect you have with your customers & essentially seal your coffin.

Whilst you have comments on this forum advising for restraint in the tone of your feedback, lack of intellect prevails & your true bitter lefty grabbing attitude comes to the fore!

A 20% reduction in 2010 on the back of lost trade looks inevitable!!

As a moderator thank you for posting your views. As a postman who was once in the forces and is neither a lefty or has a grabbing attitude, please investigate the reasons behind the dispute not just what appears in the press.

As Dave Ward so eloquently said Every Posties knows there is a recession, every postie know we will loose business and every postie knows what a strike will cause so there has to be underlying causes why 76% voted in favour of strike action.

As a moderator - thanks for pointing out the bits asking for restraint some seem to ignore it but I do try :Very Happy
