Re: National strike.....will you deliver....
Pay is a fundremental part of this dispute. Not in the way of a pay increase but forcing Royal Mail to pay for change. There are going to be massive changes in this indusutry so why shouldt we see our terms and conditions improved in recognition for those changes and our increased producitivity.
The other resolutions is the future of deliveries including the span, attendances , last letter rurals and town ,D2D , automation , car derived vans, standards, geo route agreement to list a few issues.
With regards to mail centres it includes the number which will be left , the ways of working , automation . Siso sortings , distrubtion collections.
Network will mean an agreement on netwrok 2009 and the changes that arise from the mail centre agreement
Off course overlaying this must be the benefits agreement including SWW. Plus an agreement on no complusory redundancies and transfers. Plus the strenghtening of the IR framework within the workplace.
Finally we need to ensure that the agreement resolves all the local executive action within an agreed framework which includes resign issues, earnings, workload , attendances and duty numbers.
On top of all this a independent review into bullying and harrassment .
So as you can see it is a complex issue where pay is just one part of the disucssions.

Dingo, the only thing that I disagree with you about, is the pay element. Like I (and many others on here) have been saying for some time. There are far more important issues (to us) to be addressed that getting a pay rise.
You're right, that we DESERVE a pay rise, and/or a lump sum. For what we've achieved, and will achieve in the future. But if it comes to a choice between getting a pay rise and/or bonus. And protecting the service, and our working conditions. Then there's really no contest IMHO.

Re: National strike.....will you deliver....
Spot on Dingo. Why on earth should we work harder for less reward simply to protect a vital public service.
Funny that you never hear of bankers;consultants or MP's working harder for less pay or smaller pensions.
If anyone thinks that their only option is to choose between better pay or protecting jobs and the service then they are already beaten. That is the choice presented to you by management ,it is not the only option.
If you fall into into the trap of playing the game by a set of rules fixed by RM then you will lose one way or another. Mr Crozier must be laughing his socks off at how easy it is to dupe some of us, like taking candy off a baby

Really?!?
When did RM offer to make the work rates fair, stop the B&H, stop making deliveries later and later, consult the Union properly about their modernisation plans, etc., etc..?
I didn't hear about that.

Re: National strike.....will you deliver....
support for the union seem's to be fading fast in our office. up till now we've been 100% when striking. but lossing over a £1000 over the last 3 month's while waiting for the rest of the country to join us us caused a lot of bad feeling's. the feeling right now seem's to be it's the union that have caused a 20% cut in pay which has resulted in quite a few finding it almost inpossible to make end's meet we've had a whip round 3 times now to help out our work mates. to be completly honest i've seen a lot on here talk the talk. but how many of you will feel the same after lossing £1000. with no end in sight to the loss of earning's. if we have a bad winter with big fuel bills some in our office could well go under.

If we are shafted by the union this time, I believe its time to join the Transport and General Workers Union. Unless they have changed, I found them brilliant when I was a member.

Re: National strike.....will you deliver....
Its everything the union and its members want, but probably won't expect half of what is being said. I personally don't want a pay increase, yes it would be great to get it, but at the same time the strike is not just about a pay increase and hope that the union scrap this from their campaign. If not, the public will not take to kindly to this, and support from them will be very minimal.
All i want from this strike is a better working practices within the office, instead of seeing collegues rushing about trying to get the job finshed on time, and realising it can't be done. I want the pension scheme to be secure and still be around when i retire, because the way things are looking there will be no pension! A five day working week (with a rotational day off each week) is fine by me right now...
Everyone is wanting something different out of this dispute, but we all need to stick together on this one, even though its getting frustrating at times. I want the union to succeed on accomplishing all their goals on winning this through.

They have changed their name to Unite.jim1911 wrote:If we are shafted by the union this time, I believe its time to join the Transport and General Workers Union. Unless they have changed, I found them brilliant when I was a member.
And RM Managers (CMA) belong to it.
I wouldn't want to be in the same union as those spineless strike breakers.

Re: National strike.....will you deliver....
IMHO this dispute derived from the lamentable agreement in 2007,national aggrements are being ignored by DOM's in smaller offices. This is a national union not a local one, local aggreements are key they were a ploy by senior manegment to divide and conquer jobs still not filled for years and they want more hours out and expect the rest to pick up this work harrasing people who say they wil be over threir time by constantly monitoring them and then saying they are not up to the standards, this is seen by the rest of the saff and in fear of the same treatment they come in early just to get the extra work done on time. These working conditions are unbearable.........

Re: National strike.....will you deliver....
Thats where the problem lies...workers coming in early to get the job done on time, or else getting a lecture from the dom about your level of standards. This is what i want stopped within the work place (bullying & harrasment), and it won't help others by coming in early, it will just make the problem worse.

Re: National strike.....will you deliver....
The aim is to get a reduction in hours to a 35 hour week without a reduction in pay.
