First off i dont have the answers. Far from it. Before we can start to modernize we need to sort out one big problem that annoys me a lot. That is equalisation of workload.
I think that lapsing isnt needed. Not until performanc checks are put in place and done correctly. Checks on sorting and outdoor delivery. Ok some are faster than others. That will never change. That is fine. But we all get paid the same. So we should still do the same amount of work regardless of speed. For example. Someone in my office being on the same duty for years. Taking thier time and claiming overtime. Were as someone else going faster and then geting an extra street put on for geting back early. Then after a few years of this the difference in size of 2 duties can be noticable. Espically when the floater goes on the duty that claims overtime and finishes well early before his time.
This is what really gets to me and is my biggest gripe. If everyone was up to standard and duties all eqaul you might notice that lapsing isnt needed in your office.

And why leave out the big knobs :cfo out of this is it not time he worked the hours he was paid for nay less pull his weight and done a bit at least instead of talk the talk but not for one day every day a good leader should lead by example not by exemption!. :cfo

Are you a nut? Sorry you sound just like a m*nager and i am sure your your not, buts whats wrong with doing your duty to the best you can and let the managers manage? as an OPG your not paid to do a managers job so why get wound up about speed and such because thats for them NOT YOU! If there is a problem then they should sort it out unless ??????????????????????????

No i am not a nut. And im certainly not a manager. Been a postie for 8 years and it gets to me that the slower you go more money you get in your wage packet each week. It should be the other way round!
You are right. The manager should notice that some staff arnt up to acceptable standard. But mine i can certainly say is blind to this and let them carry on. Dallying along all day.

True but we all get paid the same basic rate. So we should all do the same amount of work for the pay we get. You shouldnt expect to do less work and get paid the same.

True but we all get paid the same basic rate. So we should all do the same amount of work for the pay we get. You shouldnt expect to do less work and get paid the same.

So do you honestly believe that you can work the same speed at 60-65yrs then after 30 or so years in the business? If so you will be in for a hard lesson when you get to that age, unless you are lucky enough to escape without skeletal damage!

This job is not about how fast you can deliver letters, it's about giving a good service to the public.
I'm alot fitter than some half my age where i work & could tear the arse out of deliveries if chose to - it's not the answer, this is where it leads, where we are now. It is much easier to work out a reasonable work load if we all work at a sensible pace.

This seems to be the biggest thing everyone is saying on this thread, So why is the CWU not making more of it, telling Joe public how B&H is endemic within RM.
I personally don't give a monkeys about a pay rise this year like you i just what a bit of respect and the B&H to stop and managers who continue to persecute their
staff disciplined to the full extent of the law so this bad practice comes to an end.
