And there's the rub. This highlights only too well the problems of local agreement, there is NO joint identifying and there are NO sensible options - it is only what RM identifies and consider as sensible options and no cooperation by the CWU Reps in identifying solutions - if there are objections they are shovelled out of the way and the changes are introduced anyway.Big Daz wrote:Aims
• To jointly identify/implement genuine opportunities to absorb outdoor and/or indoor workload where time exists within approved attendance times/normal paid work hours.
• To provide sensible options for the business to take advantage of opportunities to increase efficiency when workload declines, or there are absences.
Take for example park and loop, there is no agreement to 4hrs 15 minutes deliveries, there was a tacit statement that identified that two duties should NOT be bolted together - well that happened anyway and as there is a commitment to doing 4hrs 15 min - these people are still having to do part of a lapsed duty!!!! Is that a sensible option? Of course not.
Royal Mail have brought this action on themselves by being totally unresponsive to sensible attitudes to working practices, there will be areas where these changes have not taken place and still persist in resisting change and those are the areas where sanctions should be taken - instead of which, the areas who have completed the changes are being driven to even further savings which are not realistic. That leaves us with the only course of action left which is to strike.
