Mail Advice
I would like some advice please.
I posted a letter recorded delivery from Harrow to Slough 2 weeks ago. Am rather concerned that it hasn't arrived yet. Is this unusual? I have been told that it would have gone via the Greenford mail office.
Thanks for your help in advance.

Re: Mail Advice
doesn't matter where it has gone a second class letter is expected to arrive by the 5th working day. A 1st class letter is by the 3rd working day. Managerial decisions about its route are irrelevant to you, the only relevant point is its destination and the fact that it is not there.

Re: Mail Advice
Sorry, you're wrong there: It's 3rd Class Mail that should be delivered within 1 week. And 2nd Class Mail that should be delivered within 3 working days.bogstandard wrote:doesn't matter where it has gone a second class letter is expected to arrive by the 5th working day. Re: Mail Advice
Yes, it is unusual. Even if it's gone via one of the offices that's been on Strike. It still should have arrived at least a week ago. The 1st Class Mail takes priority over everything else.Sally Jones wrote:I would like some advice please.

Re: Mail Advice
Thought that you could check up on these items online through Royal Mail's track and trace system via Royal Mail website?

Re: Mail Advice
Thanks for your responses.
I have spoken to Royal Mail customer services approximately 10 times. They won't log my mail as missing post, because it is not classed as lost until 15 working days after its due arrival date, which will be next Thursday. It is very frustrating to talk to someone who says that they are going to call you back and they don't and when you call back you get through to a completely different part of the UK. I have been to the post office where I sent the mail from 4 times, I have spoken to the Slough delivery office, the building that my mail was going to in Slough about 20 times as well as customer services, but I am getting no where. Now I realise there is a chance that my lost mail may go to Belfast to the National Return Letter Centre, which would be a relief if I knew it would for sure. The reason that I mentioned the Greenford mail centre was because this and the NRLC are the only places that I am not able to contact, otherwise I would. This whole experience is utterly frustrating. I feel that I have explored all avenues in my reach.
Any further advice anyone?

Re: Mail Advice
It is not true that you cannot contact the NRLC, you cannot phone them but your local callers office would have the address. In the event that it has been sent to Belfast then I would advise you write a letter, put as much information as possible about the letter/package, including the RD number - it may not be of much use though because RDs are kept at a DO for only seven days, at which point it would be RTS or sent to NRLC - which in either case should be showing on the track and trace system by now.Sally Jones wrote:Thanks for your responses.

We still deliver for the "Competition". So why enourage people to pay them to sort it, and us to deliver it. Instead of paying us to do the whole thing?
That doesn't make any sense!

Re: Mail Advice
Well Royal Mail are continuing to frustrate me. I have also found out that someone elses mail that was sent from the same PO recorded on a different day has also gone missing, but they had sent a number of letters. A bit suspicious I think.

Re: Mail Advice
Well it is now over 15 days so I would imagine that by now customer services have advised you to complete a lost/damaged form and return it to the PO - you will have been advised that valuables should be sent Special Delivery.Sally Jones wrote:Well Royal Mail are continuing to frustrate me.
