I just sent a birthday card to my father. I accidentally stuck the 2nd class stamp I used on the wrong envelope so I carefully cut around the stamp and glued it to the right envelope.
My father just had to pay £1.30 to get the birthday card. He was told that it was a re-used stamp.
My dad questioned this at the time and was given a story about special detection equipment. They obviously just took a look at it, saw it had been cut off and assumed the worst.
Just because a stamp has been cut off an envelope does not mean it has been re-used.
The stamp was new and my father should not have been charged. What can I do to complain and get his money back out of principle?
Thanks,
Matt

You could try Customer Services 08457740740 but TBH I don't think you'll get very far, there is no way of the people who do the checks to know that you made a mistake, all they can see is a re used stamp.

Thanks for all the replies.
It just seems it's a case if guilty until proven innocent.
There's no evidence to support guilt i.e. the stamp is not marked with ink either invisible or not but it is assumed.
Thanks for the hair-drier tip.
I've a good mind to replicate the whole situation and send myself a letter. Of course I'll film it from start to finish including the response when I try to pick up the letter. We'll see how many hits it gets on YouTube.
Cheers,
Matt
