Re: Refuse all mail not 100% RM
tnt opened a depot near swansea in a location i find curiuos, away from the mainstream businness park and in an opposite direction, depending which way swansea is viewed. whatever, our assembly leader bigged it up, proclaiming te new centre is welcome in the local economy etc... cost 3mill, could swear poloticians want royal mail to go down the tubes.. or should i have said parcelforce as he was bigging up the freight sector.
First Minister Rhodri Morgan said: "This state of the art £3 million facility is another example of how Wales is attracting internationally renowned businesses. The speed at which Swansea's commercial sector is growing is remarkable and the fact that the UK's biggest courier operator has decided to make this investment to serve this growing market better is a massive testament to that growth
thats a joke to start. could swear he wasreferring to the whole of wales, and if wales is attracting international business who incidentally was already here in th first place, and swansea is in a rut, and the bit where he says that tnt are the uk's biggest courier......

You could try writing to the company involved and ask them why and express your disgust.
Run, rabbit run. Dig that hole, forget the sun.
And when at last the work is done. Don't sit down, it's time to dig another one

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

lol..its not in the middle of the mountains or anything .. its in an area approaching swansea on the north side, about 3 miles from city centre in the felinfach area of the fforestafch area. its behind the "run down" once prosperous industrial road area.

Something I have wondered. If a TNT or DHL letter is killed off - who picks up the bill for returning it to sender?

So sending it back is not, perhaps, the best plan?

Re: Refuse all mail not 100% RM
I think this is a cracking idea, third party mail is the problem we are facing. I'm not against competition, but let TNT DHL etc etc deliver the stuff themselves. There is no legal reason why we all as customers return the mail unopened on mass saying we don't recognise the sender using a non Royal Mail service. yes some companies would try to charge you late fees etc but if we played it right then it would choke the system up completley and bring our plight to the publics attention.
At the end of the day why should Murdoch BT and utility companies get discounts for mail when old Mrs Jones at the end of the street keeps seeing the price of a stamp going up all the time and these ar$% holes are getting thier service cheaper and cheaper and we're having to work harder & harder to deliver it.
Start sending them back lads & lassie's and tell all your non Royal Mail Friends and family to do the same.

What I can't understand is why RM agrees to deliver TNT, DHL etc.'s mail for such crap rates... These companies don't have the capability to deliver it to the doors so if RM were to refuse to deliver it then they will be up the creak and will lose contracts. The business would come back to the one company that delivers to every door in the UK every day. Royal Mail. Problem solved as far as I can see. Am I being stupid here and missing something?

Re: Refuse all mail not 100% RM
Unfortunately with DSA RMs hands are tied somewhat by regulation, we have to deliver our competitors letters as its part of the USO that we deliver to all 28,000,000 addresses in the UK every working day. Also when RM offer a price to a Customer, they then have to make that offer available to the DSA ones as well. This allows them to undercut us, what makes it even worse is that whoever decreed the access rate which is IIRC 13.5p per letter effectively gave the DSA companys a subsidy paid by the public because it costs us more than that to deliver their letters.RookiePostie wrote:What I can't understand is why RM agrees to deliver TNT, DHL etc.'s mail for such crap rates... Thats it in simple terms, however the actual causes and reasons are more complicated and to some extent politically motivated as well, one of the parts of the Postal Services Bill would have addressed that, but mandys having a sulk and has thrown his teddy out of the pram.
