YOU COULD'NT MAKE IT UP
Colleaque has received a letter to attend a meeting where it will be decided whether or not to issue a warning for bad attendance. Reason.....being of a week after fathers death, industrial action, dog bite to leg which required stitches.

Re: YOU COULD'NT MAKE IT UP
A friend of a friend, of a friend, should tip off the papers, show RM for what they truly are and what we have to put up with.
Is it any wonder that we go on strike over their B&H.

Absoluely disgusting. Have industrial relations moved back to the days of the Penny Black? My condolences to the postman and his family.

Re: YOU COULD'NT MAKE IT UP
I would have thought that none of those absences would count towards a Stage warning.
Surely he would have got 5 days Special Leave for the death of an immediate relative.
He needs to take a Rep in with him.

As much as I hate RM managers, I believe these letters are just sent out as a matter of course. The system throws out these letters from HR and not the managers. Of course the line manager should not issue in the circumstances, but a mate of mine had a heart attack on the shop floor and he got one of these letters. :mfo :cfo :lfo

They're only supposed to include UNOFFICIAL Industrial Action. Official I/A should be ignored. It'd be worth doublechecking with your Rep, but as far as I know, they're trying it on.

the purpose of HR is to implement policy but who dictates the policy ? :mfo :lfo :cfo - can you really blame all this on a computer ?greynut wrote:jockstrapp wrote:Colleaque has received a letter to attend a meeting where it will be decided whether or not to issue a warning for bad attendance. That's not what I said.
Its exactly the same for RM, NHS and countless other big organisation's. They all have this stage process. Its sometimes very insensitive and in this instance I dont think the line manager can or will be able to issue a stage. But he/she has to go with the process.

Re: YOU COULD'NT MAKE IT UP
The process yes is what i was getting at in my post it seams that even if you can know the system and how it should work it may not work in your favour but against you!. Accidents are covered up contrived as your fault and not of the company and as for strike action they bully boy's and girls of royalmail will try anything once!.greynut wrote:norbert wrote:the purpose of HR is to implement policy but who dictates the policy ? :mfo :lfo :cfo - can you really blame all this on a computer ?greynut wrote:jockstrapp wrote:Colleaque has received a letter to attend a meeting where it will be decided whether or not to issue a warning for bad attendance. That's not what I said.If your line manager reports you as sick. He reports this to HR. Its irrelevant if its an accident at work or not. (I had an accident at work, it was witnessed etc. But I still got the interview regarding bad attendance.) Then someone in HR inputs this information into the system and the system throws out a letter. This is sent to your line manager. He has not got a clue if you are on a stage or not. Then its up to your line manager to either issue or not issue the stage. If you read the original post I believe this is just another one of these letters churned out by HR.

Re: YOU COULD'NT MAKE IT UP
HR must be quick then, 2 weeks back 2 of my work colleagues rang the office 5.50 am to say they were off work due to being ill, less than an hour later a postman delivering their address was given a letter to post to them, so it must be automatically on every manager's computer ready to print out,
