WHY ARE WE SO BAD

Glasgow Mail Centre has recently been at the centre of a lot of comings and goings with senior management which is now spreading right through the country. Wether these people are liars thieves and scoundrels will be left to others to decide but us as postal workers know that the quality of service figures managers are claiming to be improving know that this is far from the truth. As far as GMC is concerned we see duties being lapsed, overtime not being booked to clear backlogs and the worst case of all is managers doing our work. What the public dont see is mail being backheeled to the next day because duties have not been staffed in the first place, secondly they do not book overtime to clear this mail in order to balance the books (sic ) and lastly and this is one that affects everyone and has to stop is managers sorting mail pushing yorks splitting trays. When this happens we have to start making a stand because these are the people who recently received the big bonuses while we received nothing for supposedly doing a managers job. If thats the case then do a managers job or else out the postworkers up to the same wage as them.Managers are also running around with brushes sweeping up as part of World Class Mail, the cleaners jobs are next.Just how much do these people get paid to steal the jobs of posties and cleaners.Its time to stand up and be counted.

work in Mail Centres during our strike tomorrow. so they'll be doing our jobs
in London instead of Glasgow. If they're as good as their CMA brethren from
Yorkshire who were working in the London DOs yesterday, I don't think much
will get done.

I wouldnt worry about managers from Glasgow coming to do your job as most of them are as thick as dog dung and couldnt sort a letter in the alphabet..but on the other hand give them a brush and boy watch them go....its about all they are good for.

IF it's implemented properly. World Class Mail (WCM), would make the job a lot safer (which is good for us), and more efficient (which is good for RM). Unfortunately, that isn't going to happen.

For a start. RM are refusing to negotiate with the CWU about it's implementation. Which means that there is far too much ambiguity in WCM, which will obviously lead to major problems. Here's just 3 examples:
1) There's so much extra paperwork for some jobs, that they're having to ADD more Staff, to get the job done. I'm not just talking a few extra forms. But a mountain of paperwork for the Quality guys. Yet nothing extra is being checked. Who will get the blame for the increased cost?
US, who else!?!?

2) There's been a major drive to improve safety. Yet, the first of seven "steps", that they're implementing, was actually introduced around 2 1/2 - 3 years ago. But was abused, in order to treat accidents without injuries, as near misses. so that they could cut the accident statistics, without actually improving safety. This has been proven. Before anyone accuses me of making false accusations.

3) The main purpose of WCM, is the mechanisation of most if not all, indoor manual handling tasks. However, they intend to make specific Posties responsible for the day to day maintenance of each machine. For example: 3 Shifts = 3 Posties responsible for 1 FLT, Scud, etc.. Right down to keeping it clean, and free from scratches on the paintwork.

Now as I'm sure most of you will be aware. Particularly if you click on the link above. The CWU has recommended that we take no active part in WCM, until there is an agreement with them. However, some people were tricked into thinking that it HAD been agreed, and are now being pressurised into continuing to co-operate. Which is further confused, by the fact that locally, the CWU has said that anyone who really wants to take part in WCM, can do, without being criticised by them. WTF! That's given Management the leverage they needed, to keep those who were originally tricked, involved!!!!!

The whole thing is a complete mess, and there seems to be no end to it! It's just so frustrating! Why can't they just get round the table, and negotiate a way of getting this implemented properly, or completely dropped. Because the current situation is farcical!!!!!
