If you smoke you're arteries could be clogging.

Happened to my old man, postie for 30 years, started getting slower and slower until he could barely walk 100 yards before the wall of pain hit him.

Retired on medical grounds earlier this year, due to reccurence of the injury after nearly a year off after surgery.

Sounds like you could be starting with a bit of Rheumatoid Arthritis or you could just have strained the ankle ligaments thanks to poor footwear.
If you get any pain with your socks when you put them on you might have the old favourite of Gout.
I`m betting on poor footwear especially if you have Royal Mail equipment. :speak to the hand
Royal Mail managers.....about as popular as a t.urd in a swimming pool!
The DDA/Equality Act demands action,NOT words......adjustments NOT Occupational Health referrals.Case No:2505901/09

I'm sure I'm not the only person here suffering with this problem http://orthopedics.about.com/cs/sportsm ... a/itbs.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; - Iilotibial Band Syndrome
I had surgery for this 9 years ago and did'nt think it would return, ill fitting footware also seems to be a cause aswell.
So keep on moving, moving, moving your feet
Keep on shuf-shuf-shuffling to this ghost dance beat
Just keep on walking down never ending streets

I just think it is overwork and heavy bags as the weight has increased dramatically over the last few years!.

 Sorry-- but pushing trolleys can, especially over uneven ground, cause just as many problems, especially with the back.and they cannot be used on a lot of walks, because of hills stairs etc.I our yard has some steps and stairs, and
and I remember a few years back, H/S coming down hard on folks who tried to push these Trolleys down the steps. if you are not allowed to do this in the yard, then it can't be done outside!

Only in flat areas and on walks that have been risk assessed and security tested as well.

I have hills on my walk one of them is 1 in 3 - 30% luckily I go down it, but no way would a trolley be of any use on my delivery. Bleeding Pennines always causing trouble.

I used a trolley on my last walk for about 3 years and that causes its own set of problems and i had pains in the wrists (keep in clean people) I am a tin top at the moment but the delivery is hilly, 90 % detached houses and quite long.

I faired much better today as i took the other half advice and wore thick winter socks even though it was getting hot towards the end. Just a little stiffness in one anlkle but nothing like the sharp pains recently :Very Happy. Ha ha ha I live to work another day at sunny Royal Mail :nana

 Spot on with wearing thick socks--I have always worn thick ski tube socks-- and in the height of summer, not only do they absorb all the sweat, but your feet are cooler. no slipping and sliding inside your shoes.
But your reference to sore wrists, will probalby get D.G.P coming out in a lather
