How to post a snappable kite that doesnt fold-best method?
which service to send a fragile 130cm kite? essentially it would be the same as sending a fishing rod through the post, except the kite cannot be reduced in height. It is very light- weight 40kg minimum according to the writing on the nylon cover sleeve it goes into. Since its very easy to snap as it cant be reduced and is alot thinner than the average fishing rod (this part essentially makes up the 130cm, and is the backbone of the kite itself), im not entirely sure how to go about it. It would also be awkward to carry to royal mail. Thanks for any help at all if possible

you couldnt resist it, haha!
lol

if the link works then you should see something resembling a kite above-I have two, but im only to send the one. The packaging on the left essentially makes up the height of the kite, which is on the right. unfortunately the rod that the kite is made up of cannot be taken apart, folded, or detached in any way, so it has to be sent as it is on the left picture-it cannot be broken down any further. Im just not sure who would be best to use to send it off, as it could no doubt break quite easily if put in a regular van by recorded delivery?
thanks

That's a nice kite how much did it cost as you are only insured for £38-£39 pounds for first class post i think. And you could use any courier firm and it may get broke or lost if it is very expensive maybe better to send it by Special Delivery as you can Insure it for an additional amount But it does cost a lot more than first class post!.secondclass wrote:you couldnt resist it, haha!lol

The best advice I can give is to get your hands on a big, reasonably flat box and put it in it.
http://www.thepackagingstore.co.uk/scp/ ... Boxes.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Or ask at the PO counters.

Use a very long string - launch it when the wind is in the direction of the intended recipient and when they phone your mobile to let you know they can see it - let go of the string - it should land about as near to them as their mail would if a DOM was delivering it on overtime, and in about the same condition.
We wish to serve - but we will not be servile

Re: How to post a snappable kite that doesnt fold-best method?
I was wanting to post it as in the left pic, since it cant be folded in any way, sending it open would be pointless since it just adds to the size with extra width. B&Q has just closed down at the bottom of the road here, so it looks like im stuck.. unless i can try something more creative with multiple pringle tubes and lots of tape! ;) or perhaps i could save myself the bother by just taking it down on the megabus.. although ill bet theyre even more fussy with what theyll allow on board. Lol ive tried that 3 times now rhino49.. its alot harder than i thought, so im giving up on that method B-)

DO NOT, no matter what the PO staff tell you, send it through Parcelfarce. It will get where ever it's going broken. Probably. If the loaders/sorters at other depots are anything like ours it'll get broken.
