overtime availability for saturday
I suggest all delivery postman put in writing to there managers that due to family commitments they will be unavailable to perform any overtime in the form of extended delivery on the coming saturday.
This writen notice should help avoid any unwanted pressure to deliver any extra mail there may be (although i cant think of any reason there would be lol).

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Madelin, i'm a rep at my D.O. On Saturday, if you go in at 5am, do the IPS as per usual, go to yr frame. Prep your duty in. Once you've prepped in the mail,go to your manager and tell him your not going past your time. (normally 10.30, 11am if you take a meal break) You then take enough work to take you up to your finish time. Any attempt to force you to work over is deemed as BULLYING. Overtime is optional. You don't need to put it in writing that you don't wish to work over. If your manager threatens you with conduct for not going over or threatens to change/move you of your duty politley ask him for a HR1 form. There is also a union B&H form you can get from your rep. The only way RM will win this dispute is by bullying and imposition.
A PLEA TO ALL POSTIES: ALL THE GOOD WORK DONE ON FRIDAY WILL BE UNDONE BY POSTIES GOING IN ON SATURDAY BEFORE THEIR START TIMES, TO GET A FLYER. THE SAME GOES FOR MONDAY. START TIMES WERE PUT THERE FOR A REASON, LETS STICK TO THEM

Am I right in saying that Posties are signed up to single duties? if so how can they take you off that duty.?
Also o/t is voluntary, so as long as you inform your Manager ( as advised in other posts ) that you cannot finish in your duty time, the problem is theirs not yours.
Any case they will have had some experience from the day before of delivering mail, perhaps they would like some more and deliver it themselves.
