Could the original question be a generalisation asking whether so many part time new starters are not seeing the big picture of how their actions are affecting the whole workforce. (I long shot and big generalisation I know but who knows!)

Maybe we will get a few more clues today?

Ah now i see :Very Happy

I was once fresh to the job and dumb as well, all a good few years ago. Two things opened my eyes to the dangers of charging around to make time and cutting the job up
.
The first was when i had my car (well even worse my borrowed girlfriends car) broken into and smashed apart to steal the mail. This was followed by a disipline hearing which i was made to feel that i was lucky to keep my job  . After that i never used a car again.

Secondly was later on when i picked a new duty one year which had been delivered by a runner who had always started 45 min early each day and used his car. No matter how i tried (jesus did i try) or how early i came in it was impossible to complete the delivery within time by using a bike and all i got in return was hassle by the managers for being in their eyes slow  I managed to get another duty after 6 hard months and the next guy had no better luck. In the end they took a couple of roads off. It was a miserable time knowing each day that you were going to have to break off and face harrasment back at the office.

I felt that i had been stitched up by the runner (who thought it was really funny) and decided i would not do the same to anyone else and thus stopped coming in half hour early. I think we all start out fresh but after we have been in the job a while and often learn to our own cost how RM "REALLY" works we hopefully change for the better. :Very Happy

Thanks baldrick..
Its quite simply the way the job has altered that have forced people to change and do the job properly. There are one or two in my office (and it seems a few on here) who can still cut corners and take risks to make themselves some time and its their choice to do so, fair enough, but it will not last forever. :no no .

Does anyone think there is too much freshness amongst the full timers?

I went in on time yesterday, did my redirections bang on time, handed a couple to a full timer who wasn't far away from me, and he rolls his eyes and tuts! He looks at his empty frame, then at the letters as if to say what am I supposed to do with these?

I managed to refrain from telling him exactly where to put them. He then left, a good 50 mins early.

Halfway through my walk, I see another full timer pulling up outside his house, finished!

These full timers need to think carefully about how they are spoiling it for everyone.

it always helps to know that youre in the right, if people want to rush its their problem when they get redirections handed to them when theyve already bagged up. I wouldnt worry about it or people finishing early (i take it theyre rushing around), just do your job right and youll be fine !

Redirections are a next day delivery - as anyone should know - redirections are done centrally and not handed to the postman, they would then be sorted to the relevant frame for next day delivery not same day delivery. Take for example a redirection for an area outside your responsibility it is delayed because it has been redirected and the same criteria applies to the redirection service in general.

Yep we get the same, if you get handed a redirection and is local you have to treat it like a late missort and take it.
