This is true,we have sequenced mail at our office.Start at 6am ips from 6:05am until 7:30-8:00 we're we have 20 mins prep time (this is at the discretion of our on floor rep, golden boy on £30 a week for shouting 'on the sorting' we had two but one left on EVR) then from 7:50 or 8:20-8:45-9:30 sorting the unsorted mech mail. You get three sequenced box's of mail. But usually you have up to 30 unsorted boxes of mail, which has to sorted by up to 5 sorters at 15 mins a box !rogue wrote:the managers are currently saying that the walk sequencial machines will not effect our delivery times , but the truth is that when 40% of you mail arrives in the mail centres after 4 in the morning the machines do not have the capability to run all the surrounding offices mail through 3 times in the time span available , which is why the business are trying to change the last letter delivery time for town and rural deliveries
Oh the missort's arrive at between 9-915 which we have to sort usually straight away so it usually between 9:10 - 9:30 you finally get on your frame to finish your sorting, flats packets, redirects e.t.c. then you have the summer lapsing,65 deliveries covering 2 delveries with people having to travel halfway across our town to deliver 14 delivery points!! Start finish times are 6-2:30pm mon 6-1:30pm tues 6-2:30pm wed 6-3:00pm thu-fri 5:30-12:45 sat.
Most days people are booking. Its just not working. We're short staffed by quite a bit,all the new people we took on lasted a few weeks.24hr contract people that we're being expected to deliver mail that was'nt even sorted, some were out to 5:30pm! We lose most our sorters each morning to preping part time deliveries. So all in all the new system really works
