I always thought the crayon was advanced training that could only be completed by potential super DOMs.dvbuk55 wrote:No it's not funny - it is actually planned - chimp, gillette, shaving foam, basic grunt vocabulary et voila line manager - soon to be DOM, though that requires training with a crayonk979aaa wrote:Funny how it always happens to all the one's who cannot get their fingers out of their arseholes.dvbuk55 wrote:Lets not get carried away with a misplaced opinion that we are skilled workers - for sure if you shaved a chimp and bunged an RM uniform on it, stuck it in a delivery office for 3 months it would soon make a line manager![]()

Re: A NEW TERM FOR UNSKILLED
We had respect from the public once until RM and the media made us into an idiot figure.
trusted employees who looked after private mails and money.
Now they have made the job less appealing, a damn sight harder and their screening less thorough the people attracted are shall we say--less desirable.
when we had a good service we had many skills such as despatching outward sorting etc etc but Rm seem to have destroyed that when we were de-nationalised and became a profit orientated concern.
I have many skills outside of RM thanks and have a high IQ, more than a lot of managers who can only revert to pushing yorks or do Post peoples work.
Who is skilled now then????

How does that explain Stockbrokers?Tman wrote:Just because some people earn a lot of money, they think they're better than us. Both academically, and in their contribution to the Country. I'm quite sure that Stock Brokers, consider themselves to be Skilled
I bet they don't!....![]()
A surgeon may be "highly skilled" but he's classed as a professional, as are doctors etc. There's no need to think up any new terms, as they've got all the classifications they're ever going to need, but the classification "unskilled" is and always will be bottom of the pile.Obviously, there are a lot of jobs, which require specialist skills: Chemists; Doctors; Surgeons; Teachers; Systems Analysts; etc.. And they should be given the credit they deserve. But that doesn't mean that we're not Skilled. Instead of trying to come up with another term for Unskilled. We should be thinking of a new term, to distinguish between Highly Skilled (e.g. Surgeon), and Skilled.
It's the age old equation; education + effort = bigger pay packet. Simple, eh?
20 years ago, they were all getting extremely rich, and showing off thier 911s, and Mobile Phones (quite a status symbol at the time). Yet, look at them now! Even you, don't consider them to be skilled. Yet, they still earn large amounts of money for gambling.
How does it explain Junior Doctors, and Nurses?
They are highly skilled. Yet they do long hours, for little more money than we earn!
Your theory simply doesn't hold up, in my opinion.

Re: A NEW TERM FOR UNSKILLED
I didn't say that. I said they wouldn't be classed as "skilled". This classification traditionally means blue collar manual workers with brains and ability.Hardly stockbroker stuff. How does that explain Stockbrokers?

No surprise there then, but hardly "my theory". Seems like you just want to think of a complimentary term for the unskilled to me, and ignore the generally-held classifications.Your theory simply doesn't hold up, in my opinion.

Not ignore - change - at least that was my intention when I started this thread.Tman wrote:I didn't say that. I said they wouldn't be classed as "skilled". Unskilled is seen as derogatory by some as it can be used as a put down. Any suggestions.
