But if they nick it from a Royal Mail van or Pouch Box - or even tow away the pouch box as happened in my area once - Royal Mail pays for the damage and repairing or replacing of them. If its nicked from your car the mail maybe covered but the damage to the car and the extra insurance costs because you have become a victim of crime come out of your pocket.Judgee wrote:I vary where I park my car regularly for security reasons..... no matter where you park a RM van it's gonna get noticed isnt it?
RM vans/ pouch boxes = same temption... one on wheels/one stationary but both CLEARLY visible and an open invitation to thieves and scumbags
I can see why people use their cars, but can you see why people are against it, I can.
It works for you and good luck to you, but what happens to people covering you when you are absent etc, are there plans in place for the drivers extra workload, do they have pouch boxes or safe drops on your duty for people covering you. Will RM continue paying the Safe Drop sights for using them when they don't on most days, if so what happens then.
You are within your rights if you wish to use your own vehicle but I would only ask that those who do decide to use them understand the implications not only to themselves but their colleagues, clients and customers as well.
