I purchased zip up magnums for £50 about 3 years ago - only wear them in winter so probably got 9 months continuous use out of them and they are showing no defects at all. Wore Mk 1 magnums from RM - sole fell off after 1 month.silverback wrote:Yes but the police issue cost 5 times more than the budget cheapo ones RM request. Thats why they only last approx 6weeks. Another cost cutting attempt by RM which has backfired. Once again RM senior management / decision makers proving they are not capable of running our company.johnsouthwales wrote:magnum essential equipment make boots for the police and army. maybe rm think if they good for da cops, they good enough for post. always wear an insole with a boot

Re: Alternatives to RM issue boots ?
are they stitched or glued? lol @ a month.. oh, and for wearing insoles, be careful. if a boot is tight fitting, you can feel the tightness on the upper, consider taking out the boots thin insole and replace it with your own. what does happen is that an insole will push the instep even closer to the upper, and feel like you are wearing a boot that is half a size too small. one of the best insoles available is a memory foam, and is 6 or 8mm in thickness, but pricey. standard insoles retaling in shoe shops are 2mm but the reality of that is soon as u wear it, the foot pressure effectively reduces it down to 1mm
and here comes avi cohen! oh i say! at the same end, he's got one back!!

I love my Hi Tec Magnum Patrol CEN from Sportsshoes.com at £45 but there is a code somewhere for a further 15 per cent off. I've got insoles in them and have had them 6 months and will be buying another pair when they are worn out.

Re: Alternatives to RM issue boots ?
I'm getting pressure from my linos about this, so when I took the missus to the GP for an appointment, I thought I'd ask how much he charges, he asked me why & I explained the situation ( also adding I had already been cleared by ATOS a year or two ago ( when the Magnums started coming in ) & he told me to not waste my money or his time.....get my manager to arrange another letter from ATOS, as they are RMs Occupational Health company, and that is what RM pay them for.tom12821 wrote:you should get a doctors note if you pay for this rm should pay for this as they requested it,also they give you up to £30 towards buying shoes so you may get shoes suitable for the job
So if anybody's manager gets on their case about footwear, ask for an appointment with ATOS - if they refuse, ask why not? Surely that is why RM have ATOS
The ATOS Origin website homepage wrote:Did you know? Atos Origin ...
ensures 10 million people every month receive their benefit payments direct to their bank account
is behind Transport Direct – the world’s first multi-modal public and private transport information service
provides advice, medical assessments and support to 2 million people each year
engages the largest number of doctors in the UK outside of the NHS
provides the key systems and infrastructures that enable the Paris, Brussels and Amsterdam Stock Exchanges
processes transactions to the value of EUR 220 billion every day on the French central payments platform, built and operated by Atos Euronext. The platform is used by around 220 banks worldwide to exchange money
processes and distributes one in ten pay slips in the UK - that's 25 million pay slips every year
manages global IP networks with more than 1 million connections
designed, built and now manages the settlement system for UK rail industry - one of the world’s largest ever transport settlement systems capable of handling and allocating more than £3.5 billion in annual passenger revenue to Britain’s passenger train operators.
