THIEVES conned Royal Mail depot staff into handing over the keys to a white Peugeot van before making off with it last night.
They told staff at the Royal Mail delivery office in Stephenson Avenue, Pinchbeck, that they were from the hire company which owned the van, registration NV06DXT, which was parked on the site.

The keys were handed over without ID being checked. The hire company has reported that the vehicle has been stolen.

Police are appealing to anyone with information to call Spalding Police Station on 01775 752222.

We have supervisors whos responsibilty is Drivers duties and hire vans, he usually checks all hire vans and takes photos of them to ensure no previous damages will be charged to RM.

He can be a pain sometimes, but he does his job at least.

That's the process we use too, although it's hard to understand why we need any hire vans (we have 4  ).
