thats nothing, weve had a whole walk left in the frame for 2 days. its a heavy walk as it is, so by the third day it was impossible to put anymore mail into the frame.
Funny because if you bring one letter back, they are on your case for willfull delay.

Your union rep should make a note of each incident of mail being left in the frame after a cut off.
This will then be used by him/her to make a case against any manager who tries to pursue a
willful delay against a postie. Works every time so far in our office :Very Happy
The time has come to stop turning the other cheek, time to stop shaking our heads in bitter dismay, time to stop mumbling our angry words.
The time has come for union.

My rest day the other week and they could not cover my duty so our manager became a hero she took it out :Applause . When i got in next day i noticed a full dropbag of packets under the frame left from the previous day, inc 8 recordeds. Later when i cleared that days dropbag i found it half full of flats so in fact she had only taken out the LETTERS :no no
Rows of houses all bearing down on me........I can feel their blue hands touching me.......All these things in all positions.........All these things will one day take control..........

I don't know the official answer. But as far as I'm concerned, it should be treated as Willful Delay. Have you asked your Rep to make an official complaint about this?

It's probably why they think that delivery is so easy, I know if I left the flats and the packets my duty would be easy everyday :Very Happy

Are you sure about that, Tolkein? I mean, managers still there in the afternoon - now THAT is unusual !!!

Our managers (small office 0nly two) seem to be out the door asap. A few sat's ago i got bitten  it broke skin but not too bad, but as i do not normally get back to the office till about 12.30pm on a sat i phoned in at 10.15am to report it to a manager. Guess what they had both left

There should be no mail left in the office,if someones not going to finish or cuts off then management are supposed to find alternatives to get it delivered, example offer duty holder docket,if they dont want offer another postie docket,if they dont want bring in a casual,if they cant do that then deliver it themselves. Its a tricky one when its left in your frame though, because the first thing a manager is gonna look at is you absorbing it at no cost,i would ask for a bit of docket to clear it up,look whats there and do a deal, but be carefull if you finish before your time and come back to the office and your manager sees you then next time he may expect you to absorb if youve done it within your time.

They use this trick all the time in my office.

You tell em your cutting off and they say leave what you cant do in the frame, expecting you to do it the following day.

The next morning just tell your manager you will be cutting off due to yesterdays mail being left and ask him (or her) what he (or she, or heshe) wants you to do. And remember...

Never refuse reasonable requests.
Let your manager make the final decision.
Always work to your time and cut off what you cant do.

They cant force you to do overtime.

I asked one of the line managers, what the procedure was, and his reply was "If we havent the resources to deliver it, It stays in the frame and we inform the relevant people (cant recall who excactly) regulator?? .

Yeah right. :Very Happy

Tis intresting to note, that managers in our office are well known to hide cut offs in their office, In case of auditor turning up and being 'caught' so to speak. :no no

Tis also intresting that in our office when you do cut off, some managers says "leave the mail in the frame" and other managers say" take it out and bring it back" :arrrghhh What the hell this is suppose to achieve I dont know., Just means we cut off even earlier near end of delivery to bring the excess back anyway.
