HEALTH Secretary Alan Johnson, who was busy this week unveiling his NHS constitution, has also been reminiscing about life before politics and his time as a postman. At a Westminster lunch, Al told a story about delivering some mail down a long path to a large house to discover a fearsome-looking dog hurtling his way. As it leapt snarling at him, a woman appeared at the upstairs window and shouted: "Kick his balls! Kick his balls!" The future MP lashed out at the dog with his foot, only to hear the woman yell: "Not those! The plastic balls on the lawn!"

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Hardly an original story, Jasper Carrott was using that joke back in the 1970's, but then again can't expect a politician to think of anything original could we.
