Manager delivering cut-offs in own Car

Post by islfor »

Today it was a very heavy day with loads of cut-offs, both managers went out delivering mail in their own cars with boxes of mail on the passenger seats. We have been briefed by both managers and union rep about keeping mail locked in the back of the van.
What punishment if any, should they receive for negligence after WTL sessions on Mail Integrity which they themselves dont adhere too !!

If IB catches them then they'll receive the same punishment as the rest of us (dismissal in my office), you could always take a photo and e-mail it to IB if you are that way inclined  .

And a reminder of a previous LTB:

Letter to Branches

Dear Colleague

Use of Private Cars on Delivery By Managers

We have been made aware of advice that has been issued by Royal Mail which confirms that the insurance bond which is sometimes provided to CWU members who use their own cars on delivery is not applicable for managers who use their cars for such purposes, either during industrial action periods or at other times.

Therefore unless they have private business insurance to convey mail, they will be driving without insurance. We would suggest that if our members become aware of Managers operating in this way either while industrial action is taking place or otherwise, they should draw the attention of police to the likelihood that an offence is being committed so that they can take the necessary action to stop it.

Would suggest for your queries that you go to the following link http://www.royalmailchat.co.uk/communit ... 36&t=11918" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and if you have not already done so read in full. Private Cars on Delivery Frequently Asked Questions should provide your answers - try (questions 4 and 5).

could always tip the Police off - discretely via Crimestoppers with the insurance issue - there's traffic cops under a lot of pressure with all that New Labour Target Culture

This happens every day in our office, one manager in particular loads up packets/letters all on view to Joe Public, then runs round like a blue arse fly !

Mail that is undeliverable due to posties running out of time, ie. I had to cut off my delivery to be able to finish on time.

Well if your contract is 9am-2pm then you can cut off at 2pm.
