My confusion stems from the fact that we voted on a pay and modernisation deal last year didn t we? Why, now, do we need private money to modernise?
Where is the £1.2 billion loan that was promised to start modernisation if Royal Mail employees voted to accept the pay rise? At my office we are still driving vans that are 7 years old now and are a disgrace to Royal Mail.
If the government simply tackled the pension deficit in the same manor that it has with the banking system and then senior management began to use the £1.2 billion as it promised, then maybe we would not need a private company to help us. Oh yes, and maybe 99% of staff wouldn t be pissed off.
