andy, you are assuming he owes it to a business.
just perhaps, and yes its just a thought, but it may be his wife crashed into somones car and drove off.
or his dad owes money all over town and mutual after being told to stay out of it ,is trying to find these people to put the frightners on them.

remeber he said extort his familey not he himself.

of coarse mutual this is all wild spectualtion.no offense.
but if im near the mark feel free to pat my back.lol

if a recorded comes from a buisness then it is alway signed by the postie on lates that picks them up.
they have rolls of rec stickers and its not rocket science to work out who had what roll.so if the business owner thought he would pull a fast un and just mail this one in a box he would soon be found out.
if it was purchased at a post office then thats as local as you can get.youll have to rely on the counter clerks memory.or if paid for by card.security tapes.or at the very least when they ask to see if its been sign for a recieved.

all of which will be very simple for the police to discover.

the above facts all lead me to belive that its either a genuine request for disputed monies.
why would an extortionist bother to send anything recorded when he could just send you a letter telling you his father is the deposed leader of liberia and he wants to put 20 million in your bank account
