TrueBlueTerrier wrote:Your manager must be really petty, in my WTL sometimes the manager lets me answer questions and ask them as well. Most of the information I get to answer questions comes from RMC so once again it proves its worth.

However, I do enjoy it when the Manager answers a question with "I don't know, I'll get back to you" and I pipe up "I know the answer, what you .............". It embarrasses him no end but to his credit he does not get personal or offended by it.
This is what WTL is about. I think sometimes that WTL is just used by managers to push the "NEW" instructions passed down by the DOM or area manager. But my experience is that most people like to idea of WTL but after 3-4 minutes want out because its eating into their time. On the point of asking questions and the line manager not knowing the answer, I think thats fair enough. If the manager realises he has a knowledgable guy on board he should listen and take note and also perhaps even go to HIM for advice. No one should be above asking questions, be it a postie or a manager.

she's obviously trying to impress someone more senior ( I've broken someone's b***ocks - brownie points please ) - to them you're guilty of something but they are not quite sure what - they'll find something vague and obscure :hmmmm

The rep can't go handwringing because it could mean some other poor b*gg*r could be put on a incitement charge all to settle other managers petty vendettas as RM will declare open season on staff with trumped up charges - once the RM braindead machine gets going it's difficult to stop , RM will close ranks and protect their managers no matter what .

Call her bluff if she gets ar**y

sounds like a union bashing thing - we've had it WTL you listen , you learn - - no questions end of - a complaint went to the union but there must have been pressure from on high

Well I'll be in trouble then because that's exactly what I have been telling people today when they tried to introduce a permanent lapsed round on Mondays and Tuesdays. Although I did word it "you don't have to come in early, use your own cars, or work beyond your contracted hours" and the Lineo agreed with me. ImageImageImageImage

I would be careful here. To say "work your hours, dont use your cars, or do not work beyond you hours" is fine. But I am not sure a postie can tell another postie to cut off. I might be wrong but I believe management might see that as incitement to work to rule? I think it is how you word it to your collegue?

the one's that have been tried at Burslem are " Encouraging people not to cooperate with management " - on reps it's " Misuse of union position " doesn't matter how vague or obscure it is - RM have already decided someone is guilty of something and will work back from verdict and charge and play judge , jury and executioner .

They've tried the UIA tactic before and lost but it doesn't mean RM won't try again
