That's not how the planning will work. The pods will contain duties that border each other with the focus being to keep travelling distances as short as possiblegoneaway wrote: ↑21 Jul 2026, 17:32DM26 hasn't started at our office and is still in the planning stages and there is no official word on which four duties will be in each pod. But there's a rumour that two of the existing van share jobs will be paired with another two van share jobs about two miles apart! It's not a rural area and will involve travel across other pods' areas! Utter madness, especially when there are 1pm Specials in both areas! Are any other offices who are up and running working illogical geographical spreads like this (barring isolated rural areas)?

Being a reserve doesn't mean you are on a different job each day.... they can put you on an awful job for months.

If it's all in one town then a van might get sent out to do the specials for the entire area covered by the DO.goneaway wrote: ↑21 Jul 2026, 17:32DM26 hasn't started at our office and is still in the planning stages and there is no official word on which four duties will be in each pod. Re: The pods,,,,,
I would want certain things clarified before any vote. Like, which 4 duties form the "pod", which one is being lapsed, when the formal re-pick will occur and whether that commitment is written and agreed rather than being agreed verbally.
We have been promised a full office revision for years so I place very little reliance on informal assurances from the reps. Without those safeguards in place all you get is favouritism, displaced duty holders and arguments that are more realistic than cynical.

There isn't 1 lapsed, you take a look of everything on walk 3 and a loop of first class and tracked on walk 4.postslippete wrote: ↑22 Jul 2026, 22:27I would want certain things clarified before any vote. Its all there in the CWU agreement. Turning that into anything other than a figment of Martin Walsh's imagination is the hard part.postslippete wrote: ↑22 Jul 2026, 22:27I would want certain things clarified before any vote. Re: The pods,,,,,
We have had promises of revisions and re-picks for a very long time and they have never materialised. A few posties have since left and other posties have jumped onto those rounds. No one really wants to be in a pod! I certainly don't, but as for the agreement my concern is whether offices will actually follow it. The CWU has already said that some units haven't implemented DM26 properly because they didn't complete the pre-deployment process.
If parts of the rollout aren't being followed properly then obviously it's not going to work very well. In our office, the paired walks are getting absolutely stuffed with weeks worth of mail while the singletons are clearing on a daily basis. That should be the evidence that our duties need to be properly re-balanced before any new delivery method deployment. If not, we will simply end up with the same problems under a different operating model.

DM26 is due to go into our office in a few weeks time. The repick is starting next week. No one seems to have a clue how the POD system works. What exactly is each duty expected to do each day? Everyone you speak to in the office including the manager has a different idea.

Ours wants to pair up a duty with loads of pkts with one that dsnt. Most duties now get a high number of pkts ! . We are a high impact office for pkts , how the hell does this work ! Then there is we will pair u up with a duty miles away that could work. Wtf. Its all over the place , ifs and buts. Is this not just called lapsing everyday really? No resign till next year , keep some on there duties to avoid it being even more of a mess, that close to pressure period . Then one in four postys will be displaced before then , huge arguements etc incoming . Union what union

Your 'rogue' manager is ignoring/interpreting what the robust system that's supposed to be followed before implementation and doing as he see fits, it's wrong.Chelseablue wrote: ↑23 Jul 2026, 21:01Ours wants to pair up a duty with loads of pkts with one that dsnt. Its about what the CWU do, no one else. The go/no go can only happen if the CWU agree. If it's not as per the agreement then the rep no goes it.postslippete wrote: ↑23 Jul 2026, 18:32We have had promises of revisions and re-picks for a very long time and they have never materialised. So the whole process is heavily dependant on the strength of the local rep? Oh dear, we're f***ed
I said months ago that some singleton posties in our office were voting YES for DM26 because the rep told them that they would stay on their own rounds. That means that those who are unfortunate to work as a pair would be forced to work in a pod. Bearing in mind that I picked this duty years ago I had hoped that there would be an office re-pick so I could pick another duty but instead certain posties with a lot less seniority have found themselves on these rounds instead.
Just reading the CWU's own update it says that units shouldn't deploy until they've completed the pre-deployment checks and received approval from the Regional Steering Group, so does that not mean that there is another level above the local rep? Before any sign off can't union members challenge anything?
