Experiences of customs from US

Post by Captain Jack »

I had some sentimental artwork sent to me from US of A via USPS - size of A3 page (in a flat envelope). It has arrived in Langley HWDC (aka the black hole) on Monday but has not moved since. Granted, it's "only" been two days but I have had stuff lost in there in the past with no realistic way of getting the item looked for. And no-one will take responsibility for it either.

Anyway, what are people's experiences of how long an incoming item would get stuck in Langley for? It will have a value of $75 USD on it and possibly $37 for shipping, so ~$110. are they waiting to slap customs charges there? In my previous experience the item is sent to my local DO that collects customs charges rather than Langley themselves...

Someone put my mind at ease!
