Postie to Parcelforce?

Post by amhopkins1 »

Has anyone changed job from postie to a Parcelforce driver? Seen a local job and wondered if it’s worth the change

I worked at PF before going to RM and if you don't mind driving then i'd say it was the PF was the better of the 2 to work for. I moved because I could afford the reduction from FT to PT (at the time) and our local PF moved further away. Same manager mindset though.

I did wonder what had happened to parcel force because our DPR drivers seem to be taking all the large packets?

Yes I’ve seen them in bigger vans than ours doing smaller packets :arrrghhh
And apparently they don’t collect from people’s houses anymore we’re doing it :evil/mad

Yes, I've had the recent pleasure of collecting a few very large items from customers and slapping a Parcelforce Express label on it. I'd love for the company to explain their strategy as to which parcel courier branch of their parcel courier company does what, assuming there is one.

I'm really enjoying collecting 30kg from Post Offices in my tiny van now PF are no longer collecting from PO's!

I also have one customer I regularly collect PF express items from that are too big to go in our yorks.

Not really sure what PF do now?

Shouldn’t you be refusing them?

Wasn't there talk at one point over the last year or so of the possibility of PF being merged into RM?

Is that even possible when RM seems to be delivering more parcels than ever this summer, if they are volumes must be way up on last summer?

I seen a large bike in my DO. It was delivered to the customer via PF and we had to collect it when the customer decided they didn’t want it. Make it make sense

It's bloody confusing for people on the receiving end because they're getting updates and messages all branded Royal Mail and we haven't a clue.

I got a notification my item was arriving the other Monday via us. Great, I'm my own postman so that's very convenient for me - I know it's not going to be sitting on the doorstep all day. Sorting finishes and there's nothing for me in the yorks (emphasis plural). Message arrives when we're midway through the slog: you're item has been delivered by Royal Mail! Eh? I can only assume it was Parcelforce. Meanwhile we were busy delivering f***ing kitchen appliances.
