Post by norris9 »

Anyone in an office that's started the new DM26 way of working..... is it working?

Let's get some feedback....

We’re trialing it and it’s an absolute f***ing s**t show. There’s an ulterior motive to all of this. I’m certain.

Do you at least know if it's better to work...

1. In a van-share
2. As a singleton doing 4 duties as part of the pod.
3. As a singleton sticking to 1 duty (typically a 'rural').

I'd assume the 3rd option must be the best option.... but are those singleton 'rural' posties struggling with the workload too?

Everyone has a full days work. The non-pod singletons assist indoors and outdoors.

We’ve not officially started it but we’ve started trialling pods randomly around the office around 3 weeks ago. As predicted it’s not working, delivery’s that used to clear now going over by 2 hours. The whole idea is f***ing stupid and has been dreamt up by office drones like Mr Walsh who have no idea what the job is outdoors. Most the time saved by leaving 2nd class on half a delivery gets eaten up by doing double mail on the other side.
Granted it probably does save around 20-30 mins by doing this but it in no way frees up enough time to cover 2 thirds of another deliveries tracked, first class and some of the mail. Add in the added complexity’s of ramming more large parcels from the 3rd delivery into a van share and it’s just a total mess.
This method won’t make the savings the company and the union thinks it can make and I think RM probably know that. It’s probably the last Hail Mary attempt to convince the government and regulator that they have tried and that the USO must be further watered down at some future point.
