A lot has changed with a new owner on board.
We're all on the same ship apparently, but some of us still can't find the 35-hour deck, the equalisation cabin or the work-life balance lounge that we were shown on the original brochure. Meanwhile in our office, we're busy rearranging the deckchairs by moving frames around the shop floor while management studies the fuel bill.
But looking back over the last few years, what promises do you think have drifted furthest from what members were originally told?
35 hour week with no loss in pay?
Equalisation?
Better work-life balance?
More achievable duties?
Improved QoS?
Reduced pressure from later starts?
Revision and re-pick?
No compulsory redundancies?
Or something else?
Genuine question. Looking back now, which promise has aged the worst?

It's less of a cruise ship and more like one of those big swan pedalos from the boating lake. 3 people trying to do the work of 4 while management insist that its perfectly designed

Theres a few lifeboats in ours that are leaving every day at 50% capacity but they won't be coming back to pick anyone else up as they got stuck in stormy seas

That's an interesting one because job and finish has largely disappeared through a combination of revisions, PDA data and SISO over the years.
When the CWU and RM rolled out PDA outdoor actuals, the union said that it was not being introduced to track individuals or used as a disciplinary tool and yet Simon Thompson was forced to acknowledge that it was used in conduct cases in that parliamentary committee.
For decades, it was RM culture that if you cleared you cleared your OWN duty, you could go home because managers cared more about the work being completed than the exact minute that you finished. Has SISO improved productivity or just increased people monitoring?
