Later start times
The new shift patterns being put forward all seem to be much later starts which will mean working in the dark in the winter and a security risk especially for our female colleagues, has anyone raised this in their office?

You aren’t already doing this? We’ve been 8.40 to 16.35 for years. ODM will takes us past 5pm nowgeordieboy123 wrote: ↑Today, 17:52The new shift patterns being put forward all seem to be much later starts which will mean working in the dark in the winter and a security risk especially for our female colleagues, has anyone raised this in their office?

Re: Later start times
Many offices moved to 4:30pm or worse finishes 2 years ago and the same concerns fell on deaf ears, apart from the CWU saying they would look into improving them
I'd go as far to say it's been the single biggest reason people have left the job in these areas - coincidence?

Re: Later start times
Where are these late start and finish offices? I remember hearing the CWU said they were trying to get some offices in Scotland to start earlier as their start times had been pushed forward a lot....geordieboy123 wrote: ↑Today, 17:52The new shift patterns being put forward all seem to be much later starts which will mean working in the dark in the winter and a security risk especially for our female colleagues, has anyone raised this in their office?
Then I think the other day someone from Northern Ireland said they had late starts...
Now yourself with Geordie in the name....so based in Newcastle?
Is it northern areas of the UK that have the latest start and finish times? if so, why?

There was definitely a CWU thing about pushing for earlier starts/finishes. I seem to remember it was a 20 minute average across the UK or something. Most likely been swept under the carpet.

That's why the personal alarms are in the uniform range. Same as the reflective strips on everything - get ready to finish in the dark!geordieboy123 wrote: ↑Today, 17:52and a security risk especially for our female colleagues, has anyone raised this in their office?
I keep hearing rumblings about distribution times being amended to enable earlier starts. I don't know too much, though what I have heard frankly sounds like desperate pleading from the CWU to avoid those 9-5 hours that Martin was recently vaunting as one of the union's great achievements. Newsflash: the company doesn't care.
Distance from the parcel hubs, I believe. There's only two(?) - South East and East Midlands, I think.
The machine stops.
