Whole offices doing the singleton 50/50 thing.
Anyone an idea how common this is as I've seen a few now on the 'app that shall not be named'.
Seems like this is the only environment where DM26 will work (singletons) - by making each currently manageable single duty slightly bigger but only doing 50% of all mail each day. Swap round next day.

Re: Whole offices doing the singleton 50/50 thing.
If there's a chance of this actually working why not simply roll it out to everyone, would that be a much simpler approach.
Increase each currently doable duty including singleton and hcts by a third which is equivalent of swallowing up 1 out of 4 duties so that's the 3 in 4 saving.
It should work for all types, hct, singleton, van share
Really simple no need for titting about between different frames and definitely no need for any more colourful charts.

I fully agree. Duties are going to get stitched up otherwise with singleton duties which are staying the same - only doing 50/50, then apparently coming to help out.ted_e_bear wrote: ↑Today, 19:12If there's a chance of this actually working why not simply roll it out to everyone, would that be a much simpler approach.

Do it across the board.

Absolutely it's so simple it's beyond belief they've spent so much time, effort and probably a small fortune on DM26 and it's flawedPerseus wrote: ↑Today, 19:29I fully agree. Re: Whole offices doing the singleton 50/50 thing.
The 18 months they've wasted on this could have had a proper data and local knowledge driven revision that makes every duty properly sized to go into a 50/50 way of working. Yes, possibly some staff would be made surplus, but the rate we are losing staff it would easily cover it.ted_e_bear wrote: ↑Today, 20:29Absolutely it's so simple it's beyond belief they've spent so much time, effort and probably a small fortune on DM26 and it's flawedPerseus wrote: ↑Today, 19:29I fully agree. That makes sense considering the distance between delivery points on rural duties.goldy2007 wrote: ↑Today, 20:58I’m in an all rural/ deep rural l office of only 10 dutiesPerseus wrote: ↑Today, 17:44Anyone an idea how common this is as I've seen a few now on the 'app that shall not be named'.

Suburban areas with a lot of shared van duties are going to be getting absolutely smashed in this new way of working.

We are probably one of the last postman pat offices
With over half the office with more than 25 years and a steady stream of part timers coming and going since Covid although the current new starts
( we hate that term ) we just use part timers have stayed the last 18 months as they all work full time hrs so that helps

Re: Whole offices doing the singleton 50/50 thing.
It must be a challenge though to have fewer staff working Saturdays though? Even with only 1C and tracked on a Saturday duties must still take 80% of the normal time? Are you getting more Saturdays off?goldy2007 wrote: ↑Today, 21:14We have 1 round with 80 miles driving including 40 mins back from last delivery pointPerseus wrote: ↑Today, 21:06That makes sense considering the distance between delivery points on rural duties.goldy2007 wrote: ↑Today, 20:58I’m in an all rural/ deep rural l office of only 10 dutiesPerseus wrote: ↑Today, 17:44Anyone an idea how common this is as I've seen a few now on the 'app that shall not be named'.

No one trusts them as we’ve always been 1 man 1 job
To be honest hearing tales of bigger off8ces and practices scares the s**t out of us
