Yep that's it.

But don't worry, the plan is that due to singleton duties rotating half their mail daily they'll be available to help, think of it as a big team in the office all working seamlessly together. :thumbup
Technically that's best case scenario.

I know this is obviously and HIGHLY unlikely but, the situation rapidly gets worse if:
  • Someone is sick or unexpectedly absence from the office (e.g., family bereavement, child sickness, etc.)
  • A van breaks down or gets a puncture (or someone actually does a van check properly and refuses to drive it because the tyres are clearly bald and have been for some time).
  • There is adverse weather (e.g., snow) preventing you from going out
  • Network failures or delays
  • Force Majeure - acts of God. Possibly including floods, earthquakes, war, terrorism, strikes, epidemics, or pandemics
If we can ban all of those things as part of DM26 and numerous other daily hiccups we'll have - at best - between double and treble mail during a normal "BAU" (Business As Usual) week depending on the day.

Obviously best to trial this during a low period because once we get to Christmas Peak, letters won't matter at all.

So it looks like HCT and rural will become the best duty. You get to only do half the frame fully each day albeit with 2/3 days mail and obviously the other half tracked, first class, specials, collections and boxes. And then you can have a coffee and then get back too late to help out on the walks that now have 17 days mail on them as the workload is too much. Great!

So what will members be voting for just "3 into 4" and an unknown incentive scheme? Who's seriously going to vote for that?

Monday Yellow 3 days mail 1/3 of door to doors
Tuesday Blue 3 days mail 50% of door to doors
Wednesday yellow 2 days mail 1/3 of door to doors
Thursday blue 2 days mail 50% of door to doors
Friday yellow 2 days mail 1/3 of door to doors
Saturday first class and tracked on yellow and blue.

Not sure how this deals with fatigue?
That sounds, and I am not saying this for hyperbole, utterly soul destroying!

Saturdays will never be pure 1C, you're going to have 2C mech as well. Either 2C that has been released as there is a 1C item for the same DP or 2C has hit the time limit. The DTS system goes purely on the number of elapsed days since an item first went through an iLSM or IMP (the machines that sort the mail into batches).
Doesn't matter if it arrives at the office, only 1c and tracked are delivered on saturday.

This is so overcomplcated it is destined to fail.
I am not saying there aren't any managers competent enough to make it work, just I haven' net one yet.
So what if they want it to fail?
What next?
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

I think the only solution to the fatigue issue lies with the causes.
If it’s bags too heavy, then you need to split them. Down further. 2 bags become 3 bags, trolley wherever possible.
If it’s sudden increase in available outdoor delivery time by advancing people out earlier then it needs challenged as they can’t just magic time out of thin air.

I've not included Saturdays in this as we are pushing for earlier finishes apparently.
Can't see it, most in our office do not get out until 10, scrap Saturdays completely & we would all be happy :nana

We don't care what happens to it once it gets to the DOs, the 1C and 2C WILL be coming through together, you'll just have to extract the 1C or you'll go down as failing the 1C.

There isn't any first class in the sequenced.

There is ALWAYS 1C in the sequenced. 1C and 2C are ALWAYS sequenced together.

Incorrect, I can't remember the last time I saw a 1c in first wave, all 1c comes in small second wave or manual.

The alternative would be a slight change on what is proposed - make Saturday a normal working day the way it is now.

Mon-Wed-Fri Duty A and B all items and Duty C and D premium stuff (3 staff)
Tue-Thur-Sat Duty C and D all items and Duty A and B premium stuff (3 staff)
Then there are a reduction in opportunity for saturdays off which is going to be 1 of the few carrots.
