'Large parcel' on RM T48 Return

Post by dezza »

I need to return an item to Amazon with the only option being RM T48, however the box measures 70x52x15cm so over standard RM limits. They've recommended (after a PO refused it) to book a RM collection - I know it's possible to specify a large parcel format for collection, but seeing as it's a RM label and not a PF, is this liable to be refused at the door or returned to me even if I book the collection accurately?
Thanks

RM max sizes are 46cmx46x61. Anything exceeding that should be sent via PF

Might be worth speaking to Amazon about it. How was the item delivered originally?

I asked my ai - they said

Here is how to handle a return for a bulky or heavy item:

1. Check for "Specialist Carrier" Options
When you go through the return process in Your Orders, look for these specific options instead of the standard Royal Mail or Evri drop-off:

Specialist Carrier Collection: This is used for very large items like furniture, TVs, or appliances. Amazon often uses companies like ArrowXL or Panther.

Evri Home Collection: Evri can take larger/heavier parcels than Royal Mail (up to 15kg for standard, but sometimes more if specifically arranged through Amazon).

DPD Pickup: Sometimes offered for mid-sized items that exceed Royal Mail's dimensions.

2. If the System Only Shows "Drop-off"
Sometimes the automated system defaults to a drop-off point that won't actually accept the size of your box. If this happens:

Contact Customer Service: Use the "Chat" or "Call Me" feature. Tell the agent the item is too bulky for the provided return method.

Request a "Manual Collection": They can manually book a courier (often UPS or DPD) to come to your door.

Reimbursement: In rare cases, if they can't book a collection, they may ask you to use a service like Parcel2Go or Parcelforce yourself and promise to refund the shipping cost. Note: If you do this, get the agreement in writing via the chat transcript first.

3. Third-Party Sellers (Marketplace)
If you bought the item from a third-party seller (not "Dispatched from Amazon"):

New Policy: As of late 2024, Amazon UK mandates that sellers must provide a home collection for "heavy and bulky" items (over 31.5kg or with one side longer than 175cm).
