Safest way toi send documents?

Post by Nebiroth »

I'm the executor of a will and am applying for Probate. Part of this is sending the original Will (a copy will not suffice) to HM Courts service. What is the safest way. I am assumign Royal Mail Special Delivery Guaranteed 1pm

However earlier in the year I sent inheritance tax returns relating to the same estate by Special Delivery and the trackign failed completely, although the item was actually delivered next day, the trackign never showed it moving beyond the local Mail Centre. RM customer service was appallingly useless (the staff were fine, but could do nothing, and their procedures failed completely, and I had many broken promises about "we'll contact you today"..I had to ring them every day for a week!)

The main problem seems to be that HMRC don;t use a geographic postcode, it;s a special one designed to direct all mail to a scannign centre in Kent. In fact the "address" is only valid in Royal; Mail; other carriers will reject it as invalid.

I am nervous about this as if the original WIll is lost it's a real mega-pain to use copies instead, all sortsopf form filling an affidavits etc.

Special Delivery is the safest service.

With the best will in the world, the barcode labels do fall off occasionally, in which case the tracking will fail.
