Parcel collected and now missing

Hi, I’ve had a tracked 24 return collected from me on the 19th December. The postie scanned the label in front of me however after he has left I received an email saying the parcel could not be collected because no one was there when they called. I got this email again 2 hours later.

Tracking also says the item has not been collected and my tracking status is stuck on ‘Not Applicable’. Contacted customer service who have contacted my local delivery office but no luck. All I am being told as of now is to keep checking tracking as due to the delays caused by the festive period it may be scanned later.

I completely understand delays however am more concerned about the parcel not even being in their network🙁. Not sure what to do now but obsessively check tracking and get more stressed. I’ve had parcels collected many times and this has never happened before. Is it still likely to turn up somewhere? I’m quite scared it’s gotten lost

There is a 99.99% chance the item will eventually arrive based on what has been posted in the News section, Reddit, X, and other social media platforms. Royal Mail has faced significant challenges this year, and its tracking system has experienced issues as well.

Additionally, returns typically take longer than usual to reach the sender, especially during the Christmas season.
