Inquiry on an information received from my tracking portal

Post by Cee »

Please assist, I got this from the tracking portal is there a way my item can be retrieved please. It was clothes and a fragrance as a gift for a friend.

This parcel was recently identified as containing items suspected of being prohibited or dangerous. Having examined the parcel more closely, we have determined that items contained within it do breach transport regulations and/or Royal Mail terms and conditions. We have therefore disposed of those items) accordingly

The problem here is the “fragrance”. Perfume and aftershave are banned from the international mail, and can only be posted to a UK destination under very strict rules on how it is packaged (carrying the official warning label etc). Failure to comply with these rules is a criminal offence.

Royal Mail has strict rules for sending fragrances like perfumes and aftershaves due to their flammable alcohol content, classifying them as dangerous goods.

These items are strictly prohibited from being sent internationally via Royal Mail under air transport regulations for flammable liquids. Attempting to send such items risks seizure, destruction, or return with minimal chances of safe retrieval, and the process can be lengthy if returned.

Violating these rules may also result in penalties, and no compensation is provided for lost parcels.
