We had a meeting today to say that as from Monday, we will, in delivery, be collecting and delivering Parcelforce items. Apparently if they are too heavy or too large you can refuse to take the collections, not sure about if you can refuse to deliver them. There won’t be many :left:
so its up to the postie to have an awkward standoff. When they know they size/weight of it anyway being booked

If you press the item your collecting on the PDA it should come up with the weight on the screen
That only helps if the customer gives the correct weight information

Assuming this task risk sheet is up to date……

Task / Work Equipment Description

MANUAL HANDLING - Associated Risk assessment MH1-MH21
SSOW Version No - Version 1.10

Core Standard maximum weights:

Royal Mail Tracked customers the maximum weight is 30kg.
Parcel force parcels and bags 30kg. Exceptionally by arrangement parcels may exceed this weight.

This does NOT mean any individual has to carry the full weight alone. You are entitled / required to request assistance in the form of another person, a sack barrow or any other mechanical means. If these are not available then contact your manager for guidance.

Remember that Manual handling procedures trump anything that your manager may say/pressure you into.

Does make me laugh….i have not seen a sack barrow anywhere in my DO :arrrghhh

Very busy for mid summer. DPRs going over by about an hour. Might have to throw another round together to cope with the uptick but they probably won’t. Come Christmas things will grind to a halt.

Are they coming through as direct yorks from the hubs? It seems quiet in MCs, processing don't see the direct yorks, with them being wheeled off the artics direct to the loading bays.

Think a lot of them are direct with the purple and white labels and then another batch from MC

We have more coming direct from the hubs than we do the MC now.

The large heavy parcels will go to parcelforce from this mon 11th aug, that is all parcels F4 size and above.
(think microwaves etc)

in return we will take over parcelforce small parcels.

These will likely be small but very heavy, like boxes of toolstation catalogues / boxes of xerox A4 paper etc

it is still going to hurt, probably in a very nasty way with high volumes of small but heavy parcels.

you will wish you just had the odd heavy amazon box of cat-litter.

Parcelforce are getting the deal out of this swap!!

We at Parcelforce do not deliver high volumes of small but heavy parcels ,
in fact we do not deliver high volumes of small parcels of any weight .

If RM can't or don't want to use the Packet sorting machines for sorting down to walk level then I can see a few being decommissioned

What's the actual dimensions of the F4 size?

We have recently started receiving items that have already failed a delivery once from ParcelForce. Instead of them re-delivering it the following day we are now delivering them. Are they just dumping more sh*t on us??

Same, and usually it's a couple of days since the 1st attempt so presumably the recipient will have had a pf card saying we'll attempt again the following day which won't have happened.

Well curently anything over 61cm x 46cm x 46cm goes to parcelforce
But from monday 45cm x 35cm x 16cm and over will go to parcelforce.

It is about 13% of all the inward heavy & large in an MC
You will lose ALL your outward large too from monday as it will be redirected to PF not your MC.
