Spot on Philbag70 , works a treat every time ! and now the Union have helped create a new load of grief when they did not oppose new entrants being paid less for doing the same job .
The changes were imposed after the last strike action and the Union were too weak to do anything about it…

Most new starters who accepted the job offer had no idea that they would be on less money than the legacy staff, it is not advertised in the job description. Do you think that's fair?Sean06 wrote: ↑04 Jul 2025, 10:11Why?gypu1999 wrote: ↑04 Jul 2025, 08:31You are an absolute clown.jessicarabbit wrote: ↑03 Jul 2025, 23:06The elephant in the room is that no one forced any of the new contracts into the position they are in. The pay is clearly advertised....if you take a job without knowing what you are being paid then that's on you.gypu1999 wrote: ↑04 Jul 2025, 10:55Most new starters who accepted the job offer had no idea that they would be on less money than the legacy staff, it is not advertised in the job description. When training new entrants I explain about how unfair the 2 tier workforce model is. If they stay they are tacitly accepting those terms and conditions. Many of them don't stay due to the nature of the work and the difference between perception and reality. Not one of those that I've seen and left has said the reason they are leaving is the difference in pay. Mostly they are trying another just above minimum wage job with worse attendance times and patterns and no doubt they will keep cycling thru similar jobs until they find something they like.
Remember this was imposed by the business in the most bitter of disputes in an attempt to break the union. If we carry on bickering about it and don't back the CWU and give them a chance to right the wrongs then we are doing Simon Thompsons job for him.

SPOT ON. They can increase it to 6 years and £50k lump sum but you can’t simply decide you want to leave. They will just offer surplus staff crappy jobs in other offices and shake you out of the tree rather than offer VR. The improved sick pay is meaningless as that will be agreed after the pay deal vote. The devil is in the detail. Not much detail.
This agreement is too vague. Decoupling USO reform from the pay deal is good and bad. Once the sham offcom report (that the top echelons of the business have known the result of since it was announced) gets released the EP group will bring it in saying they have no choice to do it to “save the future of Royal Mail”. This would tie in with the fact numerous offices outside the trial have been given notice of their office going live in September. RM aren’t going to rock the boat on the USO as the report hasn’t been released so they’re happy to let the union make demands on how the trials are going. Once the USO shackles have been removed they will do what they want. The reforms have been planned for over a year and there’s no mileage in fighting the union at this point. They’re hoping the workforce will be happy with their £15 pay rise and suck up the 30% increase in workload. The sad thing is, they’re probably right.
This pay offer has to be considered hand in hand with the broken terms of the last terrible deal ie the end of lapsing and reduction in the working week. The wriggled out of both of those so don’t get too excited about the yet to be agreed terms.

Well I suppose the answer is what I was told 30 odd years ago when I was listed 6 day nights then early start the week after. If I didn't like it go and work for these other companies. The grass is much greener. Someone with 20 years as you say is probably worn out . "" other companies "" offer reduced work loads or hours for older staff who have given their loyalty.TopperGas wrote: ↑04 Jul 2025, 06:10Can you name any other business where this best paid staff have the easiest jobs whilst the worst paid staff have the hardest jobs? Somebody with 20 years experience is just left to plod along on the duty they've done for decades whilst a newbie is sent out doing double mail on a duty they haven't even been fully trained on. Just saying that's how it's always been doesn't make it right?Wullie10 wrote: ↑04 Jul 2025, 05:14"" new entrants get moved frame to frame " . That's it I have enough of this rubbish. When we were new entrants we were moved from night shift station , late shift MC , early shift delivery back on lates all in one month. Plum overtime went to seniors. Over 60s had rounds reduced to help them cope. To be honest its pathetic today. No wonder they can't recruit. They probably get upset mum can't come in and make them breakfastI understand pay should be equal for the same amount of work. Goes without saying . But moaning because you get moved frame to frame. Thats where you lose the argument Unbelievable.

You will still get to vote on the rest of it when it's agreed.Valentina@1 wrote: ↑04 Jul 2025, 11:17“Nothing is agreed, until everything is agreed”(Dave ward)

I've just read the first part of the agreement and it's all later later later. We'll look at it in 3 months, 6 months, 12 months.
Still waiting on the 35 hour week. What does that tell you?

Most of the people talking about this who are on legacy contracts want the new starts equalised the problem is them thinking the have the right not to get moved around or seem to have a beef with seniority. Not so much divide and conquer it's more stop thinking your the only ones to have had a hard time when you first start.
