All the vans in our office are totally hammered as well.nearly every single one.we have vans that are up to 14 years old...they look an absolute mess.always breaking down.never getting fixed properly and being sent back and forth to the workshop every other month.i have had numerous people comment on the state of the vans and that's just the outside...they don't see the drivers seat with the frame poking through that the workshop never wants to repair.Every single postie deserves to have a newer decent and reliable van to do their duty in not these old clapped out vans that are literary falling apart.

Most of our vans get scrapped when they go to the workshop - nearly all white hire vans now - ask your manager where’s ours?wally11 wrote: ↑18 Jun 2025, 10:07All the vans in our office are totally hammered as well.nearly every single one.we have vans that are up to 14 years old...they look an absolute mess.always breaking down.never getting fixed properly and being sent back and forth to the workshop every other month.i have had numerous people comment on the state of the vans and that's just the outside...they don't see the drivers seat with the frame poking through that the workshop never wants to repair.Every single postie deserves to have a newer decent and reliable van to do their duty in not these old clapped out vans that are literary falling apart.

Believe me we raise this issue every day. We're just told that royal mail cannot afford hire vans for our office.if we do get one scrapped we will get sent another clapped out van from another office.qwerty2 wrote: ↑18 Jun 2025, 18:58Most of our vans get scrapped when they go to the workshop - nearly all white hire vans now - ask your manager where’s ours?wally11 wrote: ↑18 Jun 2025, 10:07All the vans in our office are totally hammered as well.nearly every single one.we have vans that are up to 14 years old...they look an absolute mess.always breaking down.never getting fixed properly and being sent back and forth to the workshop every other month.i have had numerous people comment on the state of the vans and that's just the outside...they don't see the drivers seat with the frame poking through that the workshop never wants to repair.Every single postie deserves to have a newer decent and reliable van to do their duty in not these old clapped out vans that are literary falling apart.

Re: YouTube (new uso)
Some of our posties are the problem when it comes to vans, I covered a walk of an old timer, he told me the week before not to report any problems with the van, you could start the van with a spoon, no keys needed, only one backdoor opened, both electric windows did not open, no adjustment on the seat, I refused to drive it, it was left in the car park for a week waiting for his return, I would say it's still got all those faults & more

It's the same at our DO, we've lost a couple of Doblo's recently and they've simply been replaced with slightly new Doblo's but the bodywork is more battered than the ones we'd managed to look after!!wally11 wrote: ↑19 Jun 2025, 13:37Believe me we raise this issue every day. Same at the depot I used to work at. Slow punctures that needed inflating every morning. Vans with windows that were permanently closed (obviously no air con either). I once got into a van, couldn’t work out how to click the seat belt on, went back inside to find someone else who regularly drives the van ‘oh it doesn’t work anymore, just use an elastic band to keep it in place’ absolute disgrace.twoloops wrote: ↑19 Jun 2025, 18:08Some of our posties are the problem when it comes to vans, I covered a walk of an old timer, he told me the week before not to report any problems with the van, you could start the van with a spoon, no keys needed, only one backdoor opened, both electric windows did not open, no adjustment on the seat, I refused to drive it, it was left in the car park for a week waiting for his return, I would say it's still got all those faults & more![]()
I logged such vans off each time, they were just given to other employees who’d take them out.
The day is gonna come when we’re all gonna have to testify.

You wrote that drivers seatbelt was broken in the logbook and then they sent someone else out in it?HTPostman wrote: ↑19 Jun 2025, 21:06Same at the depot I used to work at. The rep that wouldn’t reply, couldn’t confirm if I was part time or full time (manager said I was full time, HR said I was part time, and my bonus was always pro rata) and went missing when I pointed out I was treated unfairly.Postie45 wrote: ↑19 Jun 2025, 21:26You wrote that drivers seatbelt was broken in the logbook and then they sent someone else out in it?HTPostman wrote: ↑19 Jun 2025, 21:06Same at the depot I used to work at. Re: YouTube (new uso)
I've had vans with handbrakes that didn't work - as in pulled all the way up and no resistance.
Others with diesel fumes coming through the fresh air vents. Upon trying to open the drivers window, it fell down and couldn't be raised again.(this in February)
I once broke down in three separate vans in one day.
Most common are vans that locked themselves with the keys in the ignition, when you've just gone to the back doors. (Reported to manager who reprimanded me for leaving the keys in the van).
Mainly this happens because the blippers are faulty and held together with elastic bands and red stickers.

Not your fault. By the end when he came in for ‘battle for victory’ gate speeches I went into the canteen instead.
