Rurals, collection and firm duties have traditionally been seen as the best duties to do due to their singleton nature plus the less physical/more driving make up. Is it a coincidence that they are mostly picked by the longer serving/older staff?
This new way of working is a game changer though and it surely can't be fair to lump all the baggage (pun intended) onto one side of an office and the other continues as they were.

Re: 2 tier delivery service
That's what the memo says but it's already been pointed out they are using a adhoc system to get things started in some offices.
Not heard much about people on family friendly hours and how they are (or aren't) going to accommodated

The plan was that towns would adapt new procedures first and the rural would follow in 12 months……this is old news maybe the cwu should be informing on a local level and not horsing down complimentary food and drink at every opportunity……compliments of yourselves

They will be given excess tracked to do, also don't be surprised if they are told to leave some of their duty in to cover failed duties.TopperGas wrote: ↑04 Jun 2025, 18:16What do they do for the extra 30 mins or so each day if they are already finishing early most days during the summer months? The company will also need to employ more posties to cover their rest days as they'll have more off each fortnightClappedoutpostie wrote: ↑04 Jun 2025, 17:40The rurals will get the longer days as well because the duty pattern will be for the whole office.TopperGas wrote: ↑04 Jun 2025, 17:04So what happens in a DO like mine which is a roughly 50/50 split between town and rural duties, the town duty holders have to work longer days delivering double mail every week day, whereas the rural duty holders just carry on working their present hours with single mail every week day?

As we seem to be talking about rural duties in the office I work in after the revision oct 24 the 3 rural duties were virtually the last duties to be picked in the resign they are massive they never get completed believe me there is a total of 49 duties to pick from our office has clear on 3 days since the last revision yet we have only been on the list of failing offices on one occasion there is some duties that haven’t been out for a week.

Good luck with getting any of our rural postie's to do excess tracked as some never return to the office and others will claim they haven't got time to deliver many in 30 mins.claretandblue wrote: ↑04 Jun 2025, 19:06They will be given excess tracked to do, also don't be surprised if they are told to leave some of their duty in to cover failed duties.TopperGas wrote: ↑04 Jun 2025, 18:16What do they do for the extra 30 mins or so each day if they are already finishing early most days during the summer months? Re: 2 tier delivery service
Same happens in ours with rurals and van share passengers still having 'job and finish'. It's pretty hard to be given extra work when you don't go back to office...
People got that p!ssed off about going back and being given more to do, whilst others avoid it, that not a single van comes back into our car park until 10 mins before clock out.
But yeah, they want everyone on board with these new delivery methods!

The fun will begin when some walking men sign for the rural duties
