2 tier delivery service
Pink (rural) , green and blue (town) stickers gone up in our office yesterday for the new delivery options , apparently rural Monday-Friday delivery parcels Saturday and towns every other day delivery parcels Saturday . So does this mean if you live in a rural area you are getting a better service as to living in a town ? seems to be all going ahead even though trials are still ongoing

Our rurals are so large they may as well be considered every other day anyway.

Re: 2 tier delivery service
Insane to think that the costliest areas to deliver to are going to be getting the best service.
What of offices that are all rural? Does the whole reform bypass them? Surely there should be a 'warm' calling system used where you only take the 2C mail if you have a parcel or 1C letter for it?

Re: 2 tier delivery service
This is going to get a bit silly, so rurals same as now Monday and Tuesday, very little mail or parcels, piece of piss due to hardly any work, whilst shared van duties totally f****d due to 3 days mail.
As the week progresses rurals still same as now but shared vans still f****d due to 2 days mail, Thurs and Fri will be a bastard for mail volumes, Weds will be Weds and either Mon or Tues mail but Thurs and Fri will be Weds and Thurs or Thurs and Fri on alternating weeks.
Two tier workforce at its finest in offices with a mix of town and rural.

No changes at all.
Saturdays just a mix of tracked from various routes/d2d prep.

So what happens in a DO like mine which is a roughly 50/50 split between town and rural duties, the town duty holders have to work longer days delivering double mail every week day, whereas the rural duty holders just carry on working their present hours with single mail every week day?

Re: 2 tier delivery service
The rurals will get the longer days as well because the duty pattern will be for the whole office.TopperGas wrote: ↑04 Jun 2025, 17:04So what happens in a DO like mine which is a roughly 50/50 split between town and rural duties, the town duty holders have to work longer days delivering double mail every week day, whereas the rural duty holders just carry on working their present hours with single mail every week day?

Re: 2 tier delivery service
What do they do for the extra 30 mins or so each day if they are already finishing early most days during the summer months? The company will also need to employ more posties to cover their rest days as they'll have more off each fortnightClappedoutpostie wrote: ↑04 Jun 2025, 17:40The rurals will get the longer days as well because the duty pattern will be for the whole office.TopperGas wrote: ↑04 Jun 2025, 17:04So what happens in a DO like mine which is a roughly 50/50 split between town and rural duties, the town duty holders have to work longer days delivering double mail every week day, whereas the rural duty holders just carry on working their present hours with single mail every week day?

Re: 2 tier delivery service
It’s all just so f***ing stupid and confusing isn’t it. At this point I think it would just be more beneficial for everyone involved if they just straight up cut the service to a straight simple 3 days a week and 6 days for parcels. Obviously the union will scream “thousands of job losses” but is that really a big deal? Thousands of people leave this business every year for pastures new so just don’t replace them, that way nobody loses their job against their will and those of us left here would be left with a far more simple way of working than this mental “optimised delivery model”.
The union don’t actually give a s**t about the job losses anyway, it’s the loss of membership that scares them. Can’t pay Ward £120k if there’s less members.
