Hi. I missed a delivery on Thursday 29 May 2025 and a red card was left saying "We'll automatically redeliver" on Friday. However I stayed in all day Friday and it was not redelivered. I have tracked the item with the reference number which says "Sorry, we tried to deliver your parcel on 29-05-2025 but there didn't seem to be anyone in. We'll automatically reattempt delivery of your parcel the next working day so you don't need to do anything. Alternatively, you can book a redelivery for a different date that suits you. Please choose an option below".
As it was not redelivered the next working day I am not sure what to do now. Where will the item be now? I need the item for Saturday late afternoon, so I am not sure whether to go to my local delivery office 8am tomorrow (Sat) morning, or to book a redelivery which does come up with Saturday 31 May 2025, but obviously do not know what time this will be.
Thanks!

Re: Missed delivery - help
It may be worth going to your local Delivery Office tomorrow as a safeguard. Take ID with the name and address that's on the item.
It's possible your item may already be out on delivery when you get there. If you check the tracking number before you leave you'll have the latest info available.
This happens in our office a fair bit as second attempts don't count towards the manager's targets so they don't bother getting them covered if the duty postie is off for any reason so they can be delayed by a day or more.
I would normally suggest putting in a complaint via royalmail.com but they've made that process incredibly frustrating now.

Re: Missed delivery - help
Thank you. I went to the Delivery Office at 8am when they opened but there was nothing there. The tracking has not been updated since the original missed delivery saying it would be delivered the next working day. So where would the item be now? I do not understand why the tracking hasn't been updated - surely that is why we use the tracked 48 hour service. The man at the Delivery Office thought it may be delivered today but wouldn't the tracking be updated to say out for delivery? If it is not in the local DO, does that mean it's left in someone's van?!

100% not in their van - that is against the rules - the vans must be clear and empty, with any non-deliveries either taken back to the frame or scanned an places in the customer collection point.
My guess is that you are in an area of high failures and your delivery round got missed on the next day. Hopefully it was delivered yesterday, or if not will be Monday.

Re: Missed delivery - help
And then there's reality. We have a few parcel drivers who finish after the office has closed seven days a week. Their undelivered parcels are left in the vans overnight.TrueBlueTerrier wrote: ↑01 Jun 2025, 10:22100% not in their van - that is against the rules - the vans must be clear and empty, with any non-deliveries either taken back to the frame or scanned an places in the customer collection point.
Despite this going on for a couple of years, it's only been the past three months where someone has cleared the vans out first thing in the morning. Before that they were left for the postie using the van the next day to discover when loading up and by then, half the posties had aleady left so the parcels missed the next delivery.
