So the “uncontrolled” number is almost insignificant.
Do you understand what im saying? Tories and Labour realise that we need a certain number of immigrants to come in and help with things like our care system and the nhs.
Maybe 431’000 net migration is too high, but the fact its halved vs 2023 doesbt really get mentioned.
Even when ive pointed it out on here, the responses are basically “oh well 431’000 is too much”.
Ok fine, but surely youre happy its dropped by 50%?
And the worrying thing for Starmer is that even if he got net migration to zero (which would be stupid), his critics would not suddenly be satisfied, the next craving would be for deportations.
Im off to watch Clarksons Farm
Some people are only interested in their own agenda's
Nah, people are interested why this Country is going down the toilet.
This 100%
Im 45 years old and I’ve never known a time like what we are currently living through now and this includes the thatcher years of miners strikes, poll tax and privatisation etc as well as the economic downturns and recession of the early 90’s and financial crash 2008 as well as Covid self inflicted economic crisis.
Something is definitely not right with the country and the current direction of travel and more and more people are getting angry about it and demanding change.
The country has a problem. Quick lets blame the immigrants (again)
All so predictable.
Nobody is blaming immigrants, it's the fact that we don't have the infrastructure to deal with them.
And the fact that the Government is taking away the WFA from British Citizens but can find money to put people in hotels that shouldn't be in the UK.
People who've paid into the system all their lives are losing out to people that haven't paid a penny into the system.
You can't have a welfare state and unlimited immigration, its not a difficult concept to understand.
Millie you have just ignored my point that you are conflating the small boat people with general immigration. The vast majority of immigrants come here on work and student visas. Its just a fact. Why can we not deal with facts rather than feelings?

WFA removed for pensioners FACT.
Immigrants in Hotels have no heating bills to pay FACT.
I think I speak for the majority here by asking this question as its what the topic says instead of scrolling through loads of political stuff that I personally don't care about. And that is, are we getting a pay rise or not? And what percentage?
I don't have the time to look through this thread and find out who took if off topic, but as we keep asking please stick to the title of the discussion and if you want to start a political discussion start one in the canteen and link back to the original one.
Free Speech is fine, but it does not give you the right to drown out what others want to discuss.
Do not hijack threads for a flame war and do keep to the original topic, having a lot of off topic posts in the threads is no good to any one. POSTMAN or the Moderators will first post warnings in any thread that does go excessively 'Off Topic' and ultimately may lock it.

Ok so you dont want to reply to my point, thats fine. I dont know why we cant sometimes back down a little or accept that the other may have made a good point. This footballification of politics is so toxic and doesnt help anyone.
That a lot to read and to be honest I've just flicked through it , but I have noticed a trend over the last few years.
The amount of postmen ( working people in general) taking their pensions at the first opportunity . I know everyone's situation is different and I've heard all the arguments for and against. But as most seem to take their pensions and continue working probably speaks volumes about the low pay and high cost of living. Basically they are taking money that was meant for retirement to survive today . Once state pension age is reached I see many people struggling because they took pension early. Its obvious that future pensions are going to be means tested for benefits and taxes to be paid. So a few hundred a month may seem nice at the moment while we keep working but it could destroy any chance of a decent retirement. I waited till 60 to take mine , paid in extra and to be honest its not that great. Thank God I left it alone at 55.

I'll be taking mine when I'm 55 due to the fact that the Government refuses to stop messing around with them.
Its going from 55 to 57, who's to say they won't push it out further to the state pension age.
Rachel from accounts thinks its a good idea for pensions to be invested in illiquid and risky UK assets, they're also looking at changing or abolishing salary sacrifice.
Labour are that desperate for cash they now view our pensions as a legitimate funding source.
